#ExtendTaxAuditDate
The Government has already recognised the need to rationalise the Income-tax compliance calendar by extending the non-audit ITR due date to 31 August.
But keeping the Tax Audit Report deadline at 30 September leaves barely one month for CAs and their teams to complete thousands of detailed audits.
Tax Audit is not merely a “filing” exercise.
It involves reconciliation of:
• Books & financial statements
• GST turnover and ITC
• AIS/TIS & Form 26AS
• TDS/TCS
• Bank & loan accounts
• Debtors/Creditors
• Fixed assets & depreciation
• Statutory dues
• Related-party transactions
• Various disclosures under Form 3CD
The same professionals who complete non-audit ITRs are also handling Tax Audits. Compressing this entire exercise into one month can put pressure on the quality and accuracy of audit work.
Several professional associations have already requested the Government to extend the TAR deadline to 31 October 2026.
Request to the Government/CBDT:
Please extend the TAR due date to 31 October 2026 and the ITR due date for audited cases to 30 November 2026.
This is not a demand for convenience.
It is a request for adequate time for proper verification, reconciliation and responsible audit reporting.
A predictable compliance calendar would also reduce the need for repeated last-minute extension requests every year.

Traditionally, there has been a two-month gap between the non-audit ITR due date & the TAR due date. This gap is essential for CAs to complete audits with the diligence & professional care.
Reducing this to just one month is completely inadequate and puts enormous pressure.
CBDT must restore the traditional two-month gap and extend the Tax Audit Report due date to 31st October.

📌 Extensions have been granted by CBDT in previous years as well, considering the practical difficulties faced by Tax Auditors and taxpayers
So, extend the Tax Audit due date from 30th September to 31st October this Year also
