🔶️🟣Gia Campbell: Facilitator with Finesse for Team Icon 14U
Gia Campbell quietly but consistently provided a spark for Team Icon 14U during their split night at the Main Event in Benton. While the team dropped their first game, Campbell put in a well-rounded effort, scoring 6 points, grabbing 1 rebound, dishing out 2 assists, and snagging 2 steals.
However, Campbell stepped up big time in their second game. Playing just 18 minutes, she contributed 10 points, 2 rebounds, a whopping 5 assists, and again had 2 steals. What truly sets Campbell apart is her ability to drive to the basket with purpose. Opposing teams can't simply pick a side and hope to contain her – she can attack effectively, going left or right, showcasing her impressive finishing ability around the rim.
But Campbell's impact extends far beyond scoring. She's a natural facilitator and an elite passer in prime moments. Her vision and ability to find open teammates is a major asset for Team Icon.
✨️Ja Williams Shines in Game Two After Team Icon's Split Night
Ja Williams (2028, 5'9" from Bryant Jr. High) was a tale of two games for Team Icon 14U at the Main Event in Benton. While the entire team struggled in their opening game against Mavs Elite 8th, Williams still managed to be the team's second-highest scorer with 7 points and 2 rebounds.
However, it was game two where Williams truly exploded. Facing Ro Johnson Elite, she came alive, leading Team Icon to a dominant 64-13 victory. In a mere 18 minutes of playing time, Williams put on a show, dropping a staggering 20 points while shooting an incredible 10-for-11 from the field. Her scoring prowess wasn't the only highlight, though. Williams also displayed her defensive dominance, grabbing 7 rebounds, forcing 4 steals, and swatting away 1 block.
This all-around performance showcased exactly why Williams is a player to watch. Beyond her offensive skills, she's an absolute menace on defense, a terror for opposing ball handlers with her ability to disrupt plays, grab rebounds, and come away with steals. Williams possesses all the tools to take her game to the next level, and her performance in game two is a clear indication of her potential.
💢Paris Lacy: Defensive Force Emerges for Team Icon 14U
While Team Icon 14U's opening game at the Main Event in Benton on Friday night wasn't their best showing, Paris Lacy displayed glimpses of her defensive potential, grabbing 1 rebound and swatting away 1 block. However, it was game two where Lacy truly came into her own.
Contributing across the board in their dominant victory over Ro Johnson Elite, Lacy put up a solid stat line of 6 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. But it's her defensive prowess that truly shines. Lacy possesses incredible defensive skills, with an impressive ability to stay glued to her opponent and a keen eye for anticipating plays, resulting in timely blocks. This defensive awareness makes her a force to be reckoned with on the court.
One of Lacy's biggest strengths seems to be her patience. She doesn't overextend herself defensively but waits for the right time to attack, allowing her to make impactful plays that disrupt the opposing team's offense. With continued development, Lacy's defensive presence has the potential to be a major asset for Team Icon 14U.
Words can’t describe how happy I am for her! She was a joy to coach! We won a championship together and a final 4! She was one of the best I’ve ever coached! Truly thankful to coach her! Congrats to you De'Myla Brown love you! Coach C! Graduate from university of Missouri!
