Give your kids, the gift of being wanted, being loved .. the gift of belonging, as much as possible and in as many people as possible .. Belonging is such an underestimated foundation for children .
Not a great analogy but I hear her.
Back in the day it was easier for women to submit because they didn't really have a choice and marriage was basically the only way to be “secure”. We shouldn't kid ourselves that it was unconditional love. It was conditional then too. The system just made the conditions for them.
Remove that dependency and you find out what was choice and what was constraint. That's where we are now. Women are educated, they're working, a lot of them earn more than us. Of course their view of marriage has changed.
Rami's right that men need to raise the bar. But if the bar is only about providing, a lot of us won't clear it as women keep moving up. It has to be about who you are as a man. How mature you are, how steady you are, how you show up when things are falling apart. You can bring that whether or not you earn more than her.
And I don't think relationships are transactional. They're reciprocal. A transaction falls apart the minute one person can't pay. Reciprocal means sometimes you carry her, sometimes she carries you. When you get there it's less about who submits to who and more about respecting each other.
I'm really just a blessed girl. The load gets heavy. I get tired. But then God takes over and I find the strength again and I keep getting better. That's really just how the story goes.
Right before your crash out, PRAY. Right before you make an uneasy decision, PRAY. Right before you start something new, PRAY. Right before you do something big, PRAY. God is waiting for your surrender. He wants to be involved!
I love my boyfriend beyond the butterflies and beautiful moments. I love who he is, who he’s becoming, and the life we’re slowly building together. Loving him feels like coming home. He’s my person. 𑣲 𝓢
