I left Canada when most of the population voted in liberals multiple times. When I got yelled at for getting in an elevator without a mask. When I wasn’t allowed to go buy groceries without a vaccine card. When my neighbors called the police on us for inviting family over. After I got harassed by a homeless man on the subway with my 2 year old and nobody stepped in. After areas in downtown Toronto (where I lived) were taken over by tents and addicts. After I was told there was a 2 year waiting list for an ankle replacement when I couldn’t walk. After I had to find a surgeon out of country. After I’d spent days waiting in emergency for subpar “health care”.

It’s not just the government. It’s the people in Canada too. And no, not all of them, but in Toronto? In Quebec? A lot of them. And it’s getting worse not better.

I miss Canada. I miss old Canada. I miss old Toronto pre-2016. But it wasn’t just the government that wrecked it. It was the entitled, naive people living there that brought it on.

I feel terrible for Canadians (especially Albertans) that can’t pick up and leave but I’m sure as hell not going back until it doesn’t feel like a 3rd world country full of people who hate people like me.

Rising bond yields are the market's way of telling the U.S. government it has a debt problem that needs to be solved before a crisis hits. Just as pain lets you know there is a medical problem that needs attention, if you simply numb the pain so you don't have to feel it, the underlying condition gets worse. If it gets bad enough, it can be fatal. Numbing the pain is precisely what the Trump administration is trying to do now with Operation Twist. As a result, the eventual sovereign debt crisis may be fatal for the dollar and the U.S. economy.

Bitcoin pumpers are trying to hitch Bitcoin to the AI wagon, hoping investors will see it as part of the AI trade. They have it backwards. AI isn’t bullish for Bitcoin; it’s a threat to it.

AI competes with Bitcoin for speculative capital, electricity, and data-center infrastructure. Plus, as AI becomes more powerful, it could discover vulnerabilities in Bitcoin’s code, cryptography, wallets, or network that humans have missed. Bitcoin’s security and protocol-enforced scarcity ultimately depend on software remaining secure.

Our national debt has reached $40 trillion and interest payments are now $1.3 trillion per year.

Interest payments consume 42% of all corporate and individual income taxes before any other program is funded. We borrow $2 trillion per year in additional debt to keep the lights on.

Now the Treasury is being forced to manipulate interest rates from going higher. The average interest rate on the $40 trillion is currently about 3.3%. As those older treasury bonds mature and get rolled over at nearly 5%, the overall interest expense for the govt will rise from $1.3 trillion per year to $2 trillion per year (and beyond).

You can quickly see how this cycle in interest payments on the national debt could swallow most of the US govt budget.

Meanwhile, Congress is making zero effort to cut spending.
