@TimoWijk@shi666 This is just my interpretation, but I don't think Denji's mindset *just* changed cause Pochita doesn't exist. Final chapter Denji still has all of the development from P1 and P2, he is now in a situation where he is able to be content with what he has, while still dreaming.
@plutoxcsm This is definitely what Fuji was going for. He makes it a point to show Denji still *wishing* for things, like having a dog, playing games, and going to school. BUT unlike those other times, Denji looks at what he doesn’t have, smiles contently and moves on to live his life
@KillTatsukiFuji@oopsalldeoxys_@spooncats_ If it makes you feel any better, I’m 99% sure that’s what this last chapter was showing. Meowy instinctively likes Nayuta, there’s a Denji-Aki parallel, he saves Asa out of the goodness of his heart and he has residual feelings over being called CSM. He retains his development
@Dynomelon @WARDEVILHQ@Willi4mJ We see in this chapter that Meowy still has affection for Nayuta, and Power still cares for Denji. There’s a lot a specific parallel drawn between Denji and Aki, showing how he is much more mature. Development for the characters remain despite the events not being remembered
@Clockspiral@tanijrou Yah this new reality is definitely dream-like, but I do think Pochita’s powers generally work to maintain the status quo of the world. Chainsaw Man no longer exists, but Denji had to live somehow in the past cause he lives in the present with Asa
@CraftyAdrian360 Yah, compared to P1 there were a lot of overarching plot points and characters (Fakesaw Man, Nostradamus Prophecy, etc). A monthly schedule would have really helped with mapping everything out
@Mukbackwards@Namaryuu It’s clear from this chapter that the characters have the development from everything they’ve experienced in the manga. Besides Denji and Power acting nothing like they did in early P1, Fuji makes a point to have Power question why Meowy is so friendly with Nayuta
@KillTatsukiFuji@spooncats_ Part 1 Power would not save a dying human, and the Denji we see in this chapter is much more mature than he was in early Part 1. Denji also reacts to when Asa mentions CSM, so he does have residual feelings for past events. Its a new world where Denji can have a normal life
@hana_biart@spooncats_ I agree that Asa should have been handled WAY better, and more focused on in this chapter. But regarding development, Denji clearly acts more mature and not like early P1, and Power would never save a human in early P1 either. The journey existed, but no one remembers
@nbasamitaka I know Fujimoto plays really loose with Pochita's powers, but I think the gist is that the world kind of melds to keep the status quo when something is erased. Since Denji was alive in our current time, something happens which keeps him alive in the past.
@Haurmeya 100% agree. The first 2-3 arcs of Part 2 were great but Fuji definitely got burnt out. I wish we could have seen a Part 2 where Fuji was locked in the entire time. Part 1 will forever be a 10/10 masterpiece.
@himany209@WARDEVILHQ@Willi4mJ he doesn't remember the events that occurred but he still holds the development from them. He reacts when Asa calls him Chainsaw Man too so he clearly has residual feelings from everything he has been through.
@WARDEVILHQ@Willi4mJ I don't think our denji is dead, in the last chapter its clear he's gone through all of the development thats happened to him (he's not like the denji from early part 1), he just doesnt remember anything thats happened
@linesinmotion I like the idea that we leave off in a world where Denji is still a product of everything that has happened to him, but he just doesn't remember. He still dreams, but is more content with what he has. Wish we got more Asa though
@sumiremybeloved Part 2 had so much potential in the beginning and it sucks to think how much more it could have been if Fuji didn't get burnt out. I'm satisfied with the ending we got, but I'll miss that Part 2 beginning era with your, and the communities' art
