@noah_teijeira I agree it doesn't make much sense to get upset about views different than our own. I think it makes sense to be upset about injustice, but getting upset simply because views don't align isn't productive. Mill has a quote about (1) #SP21

@Kjajajahah I shared this info with a few friends and try to pay attention to where I get things like coffee beans and chocolate. I think our responsibility lies in being responsible consumers, and if we want to go the extra mile educate those around us so they can do the same :) #SP21

@Kjajajahah more informed decisions. Like one thing I learned recently is that non organic banana's pesticide use is killing off entire species of birds. I finished the non organic bananas I had already purchased, and then I have only bought organic bananas since then #SP21

@Kjajajahah I wonder what good throwing out the chocolate would do? I hear what you are saying. When I think about issues like this I think about actions I can take moving forward. Educating people around me of these issues I am learning about so they can make #SP21

@tnburns101 in any way they choose. Why some people get so worked up over what people do to their own bodies and in their bedrooms is wild to me. Who cares? It is ultimately people who feel that they need to carry out some rule of a god they have never met. #SP21

@tnburns101 So many of our issues in this regard would be fixed if we just let people do their own thing as long as they aren't harming others. Abortion is between a woman and herself. Consenting adults should be able to engage with each other (1) #SP21

@tnburns101 Yes it is always interesting to me how people will intertwine "religious" beliefs into lawmaking even though we are defined as a country having no one religion. Abortion is certainly one of the topics that gets mixed in, along with LGBTQ issues. #SP21 (1)

@hanamuqta and the other side - it's a free country with free speech. It comes down to how much harm/good is ultimately being done overall. But who gets to determine what that looks like? That is one tricky thing with censorship - who really knows best? #sp21

@hanamuqta I agree that censorship doesn't really work. I have mixed feelings about suspending trumps account. I can see both sides. One - he is/was an authority figure and certain people would listen to anything he says as fact. (1) #SP21

@savnreiss I guess I would be curious what healing from a mental illness looks like. It's my understanding we simply learn how to cope/deal with symptoms in more effective ways. That being said, if a killer who had a mental illness reformed, are they never to be trusted again? #SP21 (1)

@savnreiss that we should be considering the intent/impact. Certain things like pediophilia I think we can agree are always wrong, children can't consent. However, in the case of a killer who has reformed - how would we know if they had changed or not? (2) #SP21

@savnreiss And I am not making a statement but asking a question - what if they were aware and just had a different sense of what is right and wrong? I mean - I know there are laws and rules, but what makes something right or wrong? It could be argued (1) #SP21

@savnreiss It seems a lot of the debate comes around if the person was aware of what they were doing at the time. And that is an interesting issue to bring up that if someone is aware of what they are doing, but are thinking in a way that diverges from the "norm," whatever that is #SP21

And I think Colin you bring up an important point that the removal of personal blame can certainly shift things to a solution oriented mindset as opposed to accusatory which puts people in the defensive and makes them want to dig their heels in. #SP21
