You know what’s funny? Most of the ministers who received awards are among the worst-performing ministers this country has ever seen. It’s almost as if they came together to celebrate incompetence under the banner of “Best Performing.”… Siasem sei
What I find funny is, if this had happened 19 months ago like you’d be supporting both the doctors at KATH and GMA
Now, I see a lot of npp foot soldiers supporting the doctors and GMA. I just want to say that, mo mmienu nyinaa (both ndc and npp foot soldiers) mo yɛ mmoa pii 😘
Medicine is not the practice of following directives.Medicine is the practice of protecting patients.
A doctor's duty is not to a politician, a CEO, a minister, or a president. It is first and foremost to the patient.
A CEO temporarily halts admissions to an overcrowded, overburdened Emergency ward. Redirects patients to nearby health centers and even sends his specialists to help cater for the patients in those hospitals. Then a health minister suspends such a CEO, what for? What’s his crime
Clinicians don't take clinical instructions from politicians. They owe a duty to their patients not any politician. The CEO is not just a public official. He's a seasoned clinician who knows more about patient safety than you and your boss.
Nobody is scapegoating the CEO. He openly defied a directive from his appointor and must face the consequences. If public officials can pick and choose which directives to obey, then accountability in public service becomes meaningless. Are we now normalizing dereliction of duty by appointed officials in government institutions?
@byoamter The patients were redirected to other hospitals on discussion with their hospital heads. No patients were turned away. This is standard practice everywhere in the world.
