I come to you about the FMD Vaccine. I want to begin by appreciating where we have come from as a Sector. Before you came to MAAIF, we lived in fear and distress.

The life of a farmer was characterized with constant quarantines that had no deadline. Areas of Isingiro, Kazo, Kiruhura, Sembabule & other areas went through unspeakable trauma of Quarantines that stretched for 2,3 or 4 years. I remember there is a time, I almost dropped out of school because my father in Bugarihe, Kazo could not afford my School fees due to the same quarantine.

Today, the story is different. Foot and Mouth Disease Outbreaks are better managed, quarantines quickly lifted & normalcy restored in record time!

The introduction of the FMD Vaccine which I propose should be mandatory (if it is not), is a game changer to the Animal Industry. Our cattle & cattle products will break through onto International Markets. There is a sigh of relief & hope. Congratulations.

However Honourable, 8,000= for every cow and 4,000= for each goat is such a huge amount for an ordinary farmer. This money is spent alongside huge amounts of inconsistent Acaricides.

In the next batches, we propose that this amount is revised to help our farmers because in any case when our products finally break through on International Markets, Government will surely recoup in terms of Taxes. We can subsidize the farmer & share the cost burden.

I led a delegation of Coffee farmers from Kashongi County in Kiruhura District to a Coffee Farming & value addition study at Inspire Coffee Park in Ntungamo District.

THE NEW PLU SECRETARY GENERAL.

This Morning, the PLU Chairman Gen. @mkainerugaba has announced changes in his Movement.

One of the key changes is Hon. @HonTwallafadil replacing Hon. Kabanda as Secretary General.

Fadil is the Member of Parliament for Tingey County in Kapchorwa District. An Entrepreneur and a close associate of Kenyan President H.E Dr. @WilliamsRuto.

JACOB MARKSONS OBOTH OBOTH’S MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

1. As Chairperson of Legal & Parliamentary Affairs Committee during the 10th Parliament , OO steered some of the major legislative & constitutional overhauls such as the Amendment of Articles 102 that saw the removal of Presidential Age limit.

2. As Chair of the Adhoc Committee on the Electricity Sub Sector in the 9th Parliament, Oboth Oboth led a Parliamentary investigation into the performance, management & tariffs in Uganda’s Electricity sector exposing critical regulatory & distribution gaps. The Committee made recommendations that led to changes into the sector.

3. As Chairperson of the Committee on Rules, Discipline & Privileges, Oboth enforced Internal House decorum & Parliamentary Conduct.

4. As Chairperson of the Natural Resources Commission, Oboth Oboth oversaw National Legislative Oversight regarding Land use, mineral rights and environmental protection framework.

5. As Defense Minister, @ObothOboth has overseen the UPDF Commercial overhaul. He successfully reorganized @NECUPDF the commercial arm of @MODVA_UPDF, appointing and inaugurating a new expert led Board of Directors.

6. As Minister of Defense, OO has overseen the Defense Infrastructure growth. Some of the big Infrastructure developments include UPDF National Referral Hospital & UPDF Headquarters.

7. As defense Minister, OO successfully defended the Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs budgets. At no point was their proposed budget ever cut by Parliament.

8. As Minister of Defense, Oboth oversaw the creation of Bilateral relations between UPDF & the Armies of the World. These include the UK Military Collaborations, China Industry Exploration, European Military alliances and the Continuity and growth of the East African Standby Force.

ADVICE TO THOSE THAT LOST THE ELECTIONS.

Greetings to you all. Next week is swearing in for President and Members of the 12th Parliament.

This means that Mainstream Media & Social Media will be awash with Photos of your opponents & their supporters celebrating. If you do not have a thick skin, you could breakdown or be traumatized. I advise you to;

1. Avoid watching the live proceedings of the Parliamentary Swearing In Ceremony. Hear it from others that your opponent has been sworn in.

2. Minimize Social Media in the next 7 days

3. Understand that this is not the end of the world

4. Know that this was never your chance

5. Understand that it was your opponent’s time

6. Take yourself out with friends and celebrate the small achievements in your life

7. Don’t kill yourself just because you didn’t go to Parliament

8. You lived without Parliament before & you will still live without it.

9. There are hundreds of people that believed in your Candidature, be grateful that you did your best 🙏✨
