Private equity has its hands in nearly every industry today, often resulting in massive layoffs, higher costs, bankruptcy and more.
Some legislators say more regulation is needed, but experts disagree on how to go about it. @KaplanInk reports. https://t.co/gUJn95AuKP
Patrice Onwuka "Despite this outcome, this case isn’t over: These fearless women @TheKimKavin, @JenSinger, Deborah Abrams Kaplan @KaplanInk, and @karonwarren)
plan to appeal their case... They plan to continue fighting for their right to work and to be free of overburdensome, unfair government regulation." https://t.co/lOMYW8aOER @PatricePinkFile@IWF
@AmericanAir We left a jacket on the plane. You found it & told us to get it at Phx airport w/i 30 days. We went today & staff said nope! Jacket gone. You only keep them 7 days. Why not say this email? I could have sent someone else to get it.
Interesting @HarvardBiz article on working w/ freelancers v. employees. "...people with the most sought-after skills are more than likely to be freelancers." #FightForFreelancers https://t.co/SnCPQQyvoq
The freedom of choice.
The flexibility to decide one's own schedule.
The dream of running your own business.
These are the stakes as the U.S. Department of Labor implements a new independent contractor classification rule. #trucking#ProtectICs
Independent contractors (like me) nationwide are grateful to @KevinKileyCA for his tireless work to protect our ability to make a great living the way WE want. #FightForFreelancers#WhatTheHellDOL
Rep. @KevinKileyCA has taken up a curious cause in his first term in Congress: The freshman lawmaker has made it his mission to tank the nomination of a fellow Californian, Julie Su, to lead President Joe Biden’s Labor Department. https://t.co/MI28uJv6pB
Until you stop #FreelanceBusting regulations like the @USDOL IC rule that would harm the livelihoods of 72 MILLION Americans , you can’t claim to invest in an “inclusive economy” for ALL workers.
You’re supposed to represent us all, @ActSecJulieSu.

Yup, I was in that room and spoke early in the comment period. Jessica Looman left the room after making her comments. The only @USDOL people left were apparently notetakers. I say apparently because we asked for their names. No one would tell us. #WhatTheHellDOL
Contact your member of Congress. Ask them to co-sponsor Rep. Kiley's use of the Congressional Review Act to stop the USDOL's anti-independent contractor rule from taking effect.
Taking action costs you nothing but an email or a phone call.

No one can force an entity to create positions and the budget for it out of thin air and hire previously independent contractors as employees. I had 50 regular clients when #AB5 ended my 20-year career as a freelance translator. I did NOT become an employee - I became unemployed and poor. I'm turning 60 soon, I'm without transportation, still struggling. I loved my flexibility, I still love my profession, but my "democratic" government hates me.
