@javeedsukhera@Samir_Grover Hope the procedure went well! The hardest part for me was the loss of control and trusting someone to not harm you. I remember and honor this trust that patients place in me each time I treat them.
@sdixitmd@GBrennanMD@DrDiGiorgio I paid a plumber $600 for a 1.5 hr job. Which I then did myself in another bathroom, with the tools I got for $100 and watching a YouTube video for 20 mins. Plumber can’t claim the same for a colonoscopy yet I get paid a fraction of what I was charged.
New @AmericanCancer data shows that CRC is now the #1 cause of cancer death overall in those under 50.
We are saddened by this news and remain deeply committed to sharing the lifesaving benefits of screening beginning at 45 for those at average risk https://t.co/9dL2hClh0g
@theliverdoc Congratulations on the paper and thanks for continuing to promote the risks of supplements. This is a good rebuttal to people who counter by saying conventional drugs have risks too.
@chetan_bhagat What’s the cut off for ‘old’ here? People are parents of adults in their 50s. Is that old? I have seen them spring out of their wheelchairs to meet their families once they reach their destination.
Interesting how so many replies to your educating post involve trying to blame genetics, vaccines, anything else so that people don’t have to think their lifestyles are to blame for disease. If it’s genetics then that’s it! We won’t mitigate risk by being healthy. Maut toh sab ko aani hai 🙄
@nickmmark Unfortunately, these are true risks and you can’t breeze through a colonoscopy but until a (reliable) alternative gold standard is invented, I would choose a scope over colon cancer. However, any screening test (stool/blood/scope) is better than none.
@nickmmark As a gastroenterologist, I’ve persuaded every member in my family to get a screening colonoscopy. Will get one myself when it’s time. Clearly, I can’t wait for my colon to perforate 🙄
