Assam: Chaotic situation in Tezpur University after the VC refused to apologise for insult on Zubeen Garg, also later accused students of physically assaulting him.

No such case took place before the VC fled the scene.

We welcome the passage of the bill in Parliament for the establishment of an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Assam. The State is home to central universities and esteemed national institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology (@IITGuwahati) Guwahati, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (@AIIMS_Guwahati) Guwahati, National Law University and Judicial Academy (NLUJA) Assam, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (@TISSpeak) Guwahati, and the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (@dir_iasst), among others.

This development fulfills a long-standing demand of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU). As per Clause 7 of the Assam Accord, we reiterate our demand for the establishment of more national-level institutions in the state.

Deeply perturbed and disappointed to hear the distorted Assamese terms and pronunciations in the recent announcements made by the telecom companies on cyber security. The distorted language and mispronunciation of terms only add to the confusion instead of providing awareness. We demand for proper translation and responsible communication on such critical issues. We cannot allow mockery of our language; a language which has even attained Classical Language status.

Govt of Assam should immediately intervene and stop the propagation of this utter disgust!
