⚠️ Hormuz Shock: How a Strait Closure Could Hit India’s Economy
1. Energy Lifeline at Risk: ~60–65% of India’s crude imports come from the Middle East via the Strait of Hormuz.
2. Oil Supply Threat: India imports ~85% of its oil; disruption could affect 3–3.5 million barrels/day.
3. Fuel Price Surge: Oil prices could spike to $120–$150/barrel, raising petrol/diesel by ₹10–₹20 per litre.
4. Inflation Pressure: Every $10 rise in crude adds ~$15B to India’s import bill and ~0.3–0.4% inflation.
5. Fertilizer Supply Risk: India imports 40–45% of fertilizers/inputs, much sourced from Gulf countries via Hormuz.
6. Gas for Fertilizer Plants: ~45–50% of India’s LNG imports come from Qatar, vital for urea production.
7. Agriculture Impact: Fertilizer shortages could raise farm input costs, pushing food inflation higher.
8. Industrial Supply Chain Shock: Petrochemicals from Gulf states feed plastics, pharma and textiles industries.
9. Shipping Costs Jump: War-risk insurance could raise freight costs 20–40%, increasing import prices.
10. Limited Buffer: India’s strategic oil reserves cover ~9–10 days, with total reserves around ~65 days.
A Hormuz closure could trigger energy, fertilizer, inflation and supply-chain shocks for India.

Trump Calls on IRGC to Lay Down Arms or Face Death
Trump urged members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to surrender their weapons in exchange for “full immunity,” warning that those who continue fighting would face “guaranteed death.” Speaking at a White House event, Trump called on Iranian military, police and diplomats to side with the Iranian people and help reshape the country’s future.
Trump said that IRGC members who lay down their arms would be “perfectly safe” and protected by the United States. He also encouraged Iranian diplomats stationed abroad to seek asylum and cooperate with Washington in building a “new and better Iran.” According to him, the US wants a future Iranian leadership that will not threaten America or other countries.
The remarks come amid escalating conflict in West Asia following joint US–Israel strikes on Iranian territory on February 28 that reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, along with several senior officials. Iran retaliated by launching drones and missiles toward Israel and U.S. bases across the region.
Trump also stated that he intends to be personally involved in determining Iran’s next leader and rejected the possibility of Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei, taking power, calling him “unacceptable.”

PLA Deployment for CPEC: China's Bold Move to Secure Its South Asia Lifeline?
China's $60B China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)—BRI's crown jewel, links Xinjiang to Gwadar Port, bypassing the Malacca Strait chokepoint. But Baloch insurgents like the BLA keep hitting Chinese workers and sites, exposing Pakistan's shaky security despite its Special Security Division.Enter whispers of PLA troops deploying to guard CPEC. Not full counter-insurgency, but fortified zones at Gwadar, highways and energy hubs.....backed by drones, satellites and intel tech. PLA focuses on assets; Pakistan handles the fights. Hybrid model: Chinese troops PLUS private firms PLUS Pak Army.
US-Pak Ties? Doomed. Post-Afghanistan, Washington's out; China's in—economically and now militarily. Gwadar's dual-use vibe alarms the US, accelerating Indo-Pacific realignments and India-US defence pacts.
India's Nightmare: CPEC snakes through Gilgit-Baltistan (India's claim). PLA boots there EQUALS sovereignty flashpoint, turbocharges China-Pak axis, threatens Indian Ocean dominance. Delhi's response: beef up navy, alliances.
China's Balochistan Trap: Troops might shield projects but fuel local rage—CPEC seen as exploitative. Rugged terrain, tribal feuds EQUALS insurgent magnets. Beijing must pair guns with development or risk blow back.
Future? Militarised BRI. CPEC signals China's shift: economic corridors need steel spines. Gwadar could morph into Indian Ocean hub, deepening Pak integration. This isn't just security—it's geopolitics remade. China plants flags in Pakistan's backyard, upping great-power stakes in South Asia.
