Emergency crews were compelled to retreat after rapidly spreading flames, extreme heat, and unpredictable winds made direct firefighting operations too dangerous.

Authorities continue efforts to contain the wildfire while monitoring its potential threat to nearby communities and infrastructure.

The fire comes as Spain faces another summer of extreme heat and prolonged drought, conditions that have dramatically increased the frequency and intensity of wildfires across the country.
