@Korrag4@Cacophanus means gatekeeping access to a community of people who enjoy or are associated with - by making them feel unwelcome. Have you ever seen (etc) a noob to a hobby making an incorrect lore statement & get ripped/made to feel unwelcome? That's more what I associate with it

Bad take. Have spent years helping looking after one of the world's biggest tabletop wargaming clubs, and trying to work to make the community welcoming requires serious work. Gatekeeping is certainly a thing, even if you haven't experienced it.
