🇱🇰 Sri Lanka Hit Hard by Cyclone Ditwah – Simple News Update

A powerful cyclone called Ditwah has caused huge damage in Sri Lanka.
More than 330 people have died, and around 200 are still missing.

What happened?

- Over 20,000 homes were completely destroyed.

- More than 108,000 people are now living in government shelters with only plastic sheets for protection.

- One-third of the country has no electricity and no clean running water.

- Many roads and bridges are gone because of floods and landslides. This makes it very hard for rescue teams to reach people.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said this is the worst natural disaster Sri Lanka has ever faced.
The country does not have enough money, workers, or machines to fix everything quickly.

Sri Lanka is already in big money trouble (it went bankrupt a few years ago and still owes a lot of debt).
Now this cyclone has made everything even worse.
Broken roads and houses will cost a lot to repair, and the country will probably need to borrow more money.

The government is asking the world for urgent help – food, water, medicine, and money.

Many families have lost everything. Some may leave the country to find work in places like India, Qatar, or Kuwait.

This disaster shows how hard life is when a poor country faces big storms and huge debts at the same time.

Right now, Sri Lanka needs help from other countries more than ever.
