India has locked down its capital detained thousands of youth and opposition leaders cancelled trains shut metro stations and restricted internet just to stop protests over the deletion of more than 130 million names from voter lists. This shows a government that claims to be the worlds largest democracy is using force against citizens who question possible disenfranchisement of minorities women and the poor while the Election Commission faces allegations of bias favoring the ruling party. Peaceful demands for accountability should not be met with barricades mass arrests and suppression if the process is truly clean and fair.
