With the 2nd Iowa governor’s race debate happening tonight, we asked college students what issues they’re most excited to hear about. The next generation is engaged and fired up to vote! @ZachLahn
I’m an Independent, and @ZachLahn has earned my vote for governor.
I didn’t get there because of party loyalty. I got there by listening to him explain what he believes, what he thinks Iowa is getting wrong, and what he actually wants to do about it.
And honestly, Rob Sand’s campaign helped push me in that direction.
The constant attempt to paint Zach as some outsider “from Kansas” turned me off. If your case for governor is strong, make it on the issues. Tell me why your ideas are better. I care a lot more about what someone wants to do for Iowa than where they previously lived.
I’ve also become increasingly uncomfortable with Sand’s approach to the Auditor’s Office. The perception that the office has become a stepping stone to the governorship, combined with questions about how much time he actually spends doing the job taxpayers elected him to do, matters to me. Traveling around Iowa eating pizza while collecting a taxpayer funded salary is a strange look when you’re simultaneously positioning yourself for higher office.
Even some of the personal background matters to me, not because being a gay underwear model makes someone a bad person, but because it doesn’t particularly reflect the kind of traditional Iowa values I’m looking for in a governor.
Zach feels different.
His message is unapologetically Iowa First. Iowa’s economy. Iowa’s schools. Iowa’s water. Iowa’s farmers, food and soil. Iowa families and the future of this state.
Republicans, Democrats and Independents aren’t monoliths. There’s far more overlap in what regular Iowans want than our politics would have you believe. The real question is who understands these issues deeply enough to actually improve them.
Sand has billionaire in laws pushing him.
So forget the ads and labels. Listen to Zach explain his ideas in a long form interview instead of letting either campaign tell you who he is.
That’s what I did.
And as an Independent, I’m voting Lahn.
Another great night supporting @ZachLahn at ISU! It’s incredible to get to work alongside so many college students who are so committed to fighting for Iowa’s future.

There’s an epidemic in our country right now in that far too many people prioritize comfort over courage and conviction.
@ZachLahn is fighting to ensure Iowa will not be part of it.
🚨 WATCH: One conversation that @ZachLahn had with an Iowa farmer led to a presidential executive order that will provide immediate savings for Iowans on diesel.
Zach explains how it happened. 👇
MUST WATCH: @POTUS plays a clip of two gentlemen who were interviewed as they waited to get into the Oklahoma rally — then invites them on stage.
"Absolute honor of a lifetime to be with the greatest President this country has ever had!" 🇺🇸
$10 MILLION.
Think about that.
Who spends $10 million trying to convince people of something if the facts can stand on their own?
That’s not pocket change. That’s a massive amount of money spent to shape a narrative.
If you need $10 MILLION to spin a lie, maybe the problem isn’t the messaging.
Maybe it’s the lie.

The LARGEST steel plant in AMERICAN HISTORY is coming to Iowa:
.@hinsonashley: “It is a game changer for our state, and frankly the country...If you look at the job numbers [under President Trump] every single month, they're not government growth jobs, they're private sector jobs.”
