The thunder that is currently happening is quite literally shaking our apartment, and I'm taking that as a sign that an angry god - actually I'm guessing angry goddess(es) - are pissed and want to drown out these stupid, piddly 4th of July fireworks ✌️
I just informed a class of 5th graders that you don't have to change your last name when you get married & they LOST IT. One boy nervously asked if my husband had to take my name instead & I said nope we're staying ourselves and they were SHOCKED.

Me: So I was teaching this class where the behaviors are so exhausting and dangerous. And then I weirdly felt trapped inside myself, like really far away?

There was a point in time when I naively thought contacting parents about their child's behavior would lead to a Mrs. Weasley howler type of situation. And in a way, I was right. Except instead of being sent to the student, the howler always comes to the teacher 🙃
Last week when we were virtual my attendance rate was 95-100% across all classes. This week, in person, attendance has so far been 55%-88% max. And tomorrow I will teach a class with, at most, a 16% attendance rate because cases and quarantines exploded today. So. Um. Yeah. 🥲
