India never lost a Test in which this batsman scored a hundred. He made 14 of them,the first ended in a draw, and the other 13 all ended in wins.

A quieter detail sits beside that record. In only his second Test, an Australian called him a cheat and kicked his bat after an appeal was turned down. It stung him so badly that he swore he would never be labelled a cheat again.

Years later, in a Ranji match, he knew he was out, stayed, then felt so disgusted with himself that he played a loose shot a couple of balls later and walked off on purpose.

The iconic Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team of the Indian Air Force will enthral the people of Mysuru with spectacular aerial displays from October 18 to 20, while tableaux representing all three wings of our Defence Forces will showcase their valour, service and spirit.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri D.K. Shivakumar had requested Hon’ble Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh avaru for the participation of our Defence Forces in Mysuru Dasara. The Government of Karnataka sincerely thanks the Hon’ble Defence Minister for kindly obliging and extending his support in making this possible.

Karnataka's Anna Bhagya scheme gives eligible households free rice every month through the public distribution system. It is one of the state's five guarantee schemes.

What you get: 10 kg of rice per person per month at no cost for BPL, AAY and PHH ration card holders. 5 kg comes under the central food security law and 5 kg is state-funded.

Who is eligible:

Permanent Karnataka resident
Valid BPL/AAY/PHH ration card
Aadhaar linked to the card, for biometric verification

How to get it: You don't need to apply separately. Go to your Fair Price Shop with your ration card and Aadhaar, complete the fingerprint or iris check, and collect your rice.

Seniors and people who have trouble with biometrics can use simplified options such as the Anna Suvidha home-delivery pilot.
