The First Amendment does not mandate religious neutrality:

"The Declaration does not speak in the language of neutrality. It speaks of “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God.” It grounds human equality in the fact that we are “created” and “endowed by [our] Creator with certain unalienable Rights.”

These are not neutral or secular claims. They are claims rooted in what philosophers have long called natural theology: the idea that reason and creation reveal truths about God.

The First Amendment must be read in light of these founding principles, not in isolation from them.

The text itself is straightforward: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” Notice what it does not say. It does not say that the government must be silent about God.

It does not say that public institutions must pretend religion played no role in the nation’s founding. And it certainly does not say that acknowledging moral truths found in Scripture is forbidden.

What it prohibits is the establishment of a national church and the interference with religious worship.

This distinction is crucial. The founders were not secularists in the modern sense. Many of them (though differing in theological detail) shared a conviction that moral law is grounded in God....

The founders did not believe that public acknowledgment of God violated liberty. On the contrary, they believed liberty depended on it.

Without a grounding in something higher than human will, rights become negotiable and law becomes an instrument of power rather than justice. The very idea of equality (so central to the American experiment) loses its foundation."

There's more evidence that Jesus existed than Julius Caesar. Does anyone doubt Caesar existed? As for the Scriptures, more ancient pages or fragments of the Bible have survived by far than any other book from antiquity.

As for the Resurrection, the Apostle Paul in I Corinthians 15 says doubters should go talk to the 500 eyewitnesses who saw Jesus post-Resurrection — and since most of them were likely still alive at the time, they could be located to attest to what they saw.

"You've got living history. You've got the people who were there to cross-check whatever message is being put out there. So, it's not as though these things could have been invented and no one would have challenged it. You've got this idea that 'there are witnesses; go investigate them.'"

I just got off Glenn Beck's show.

What a guy.

A year ago there was NO CHANCE you could have ever convinced me to go on his show.

This morning, I talked with him on his radio show for a half an hour and thanked him for everything he's done for Western North Carolina.

It's honestly embarrassing to talk about how badly I got things wrong.

I offloaded so much of my critical thinking to "trusted sources" and I regret it immensely.

It's so much easier to go through life thinking you know everything because an "expert" told you so.

...so then everyone who disagrees with you must be stupid or mean or heartless

Then you start to LABEL people.

Conservative. MAGA. Racists. Bigots.

...because KIND people are none of those things, right?

So if you're a kind person... you're accepting of everything and everyone and every behavior and if you're not, well then...

YOU get labeled.

And you don't want that.

You want to be a good person.

AND. THAT. IS. THE. TRAP.

So many people, like myself not that long ago, who identify as liberal just want to be good people.

I think a lot of people who haven't been in a liberal bubble, do not understand this.

I truly believe that many, many people who call themselves liberals are people that just are trying to be kind to everyone and somewhere along the way...

...someone told them that it's not enough to be kind to everyone, you also have to FIGHT AN ENEMY

And that enemy is Trump/MAGA/conservatives.

They are mean ones.
They are the unkind ones.

You don't even realize the sinister truth: your own kindness, your own empathy... it's being turned against you.

It's because you are not a participant in a movement, you're a pawn in a game and you don't even know it until you wake up one day to find that everything you did trying to be "kind" was pushing an agenda forward that wants to eat you alive, so sit down and shut up or we will kick you of the club of kind people.

So yeah, it's my fault.

I'm to blame for the liberal push to far left of society as much as anyone.

I see it now, but I didn't see it back then.
