The Supreme Court’s decision on the Mekedatu project has reaffirmed justice for Karnataka. This is about fairness and the rightful use of our water resources, and a step forward for our people. Mekedatu will secure drinking water for Bengaluru and ensure that Tamil Nadu continues to receive its share as per the tribunal’s order, even in poor rain years. The project is being implemented entirely within our state and with our own resources. It will serve every citizen living in Bengaluru, cutting across states and regions.

I urge Tamil Nadu to now extend cooperation, and I am confident that the Central Water Commission will move forward responsibly to support the project.
