The visit was an opportunity to extend our warm congratulations and profound appreciation for his distinguished and selfless service to the Republic of Uganda.
Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Charles Otema Awany was accorded a warm reception in Gulu City today, following his formal retirement from the Uganda People's Defence Forces last week.

(Retd) Otema Charles Awany, has arrived at Tutu Odoko-Rwot Village in Wii Anaka, Purongo Sub-County, Nwoya District, to attend the burial of their cousin, the late Mwaka Patrick Awany—son of the late Mzee Nicholas Okuttu Awany.
The deceased, aged 48, tragically lost his life in a motor accident on 19th August 2026 at Muene Bridge, near Amwa, along the Kampala–Gulu Highway.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.

It was a special and deeply nostalgic meeting for me as I remembered her late mother, who visited our family many years ago. She prayed with us and gave each of our children their first Bible, together with one of her books. The memories of that visit remain very precious to our family.

Dr. Osborn is in Uganda at the invitation of Pastor Patience Rwabwogo ahead of her consecration as an Episcopal Bishop on August 23, 2026. The consecration ceremony will also coincide with the 20th anniversary celebrations of Covenant Nations Church.
During the meeting, Dr. Osborn described herself as a friend of Uganda and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to return to the country, where her family has maintained longstanding ties through Christian ministry.
