Vaya a buscarlo.
Four hundred million people have this image on their phone, a mug, or a T-shirt.
Almost none of them have noticed what's wrong with Adam's hand.
Look at the two arms.
God is horizontal. Launched. Every tendon in His arm at full stretch, hair and mantle blown back by His own speed, angels straining under the weight of carrying Him because He is the one moving. He has crossed the entire sky to get to this moment. His finger is extended as far as a finger goes.
Now Adam.
Draped on a hillside. Propped on one elbow. Leaning back. His arm isn't reaching; it's resting on his own knee. The wrist is slack. The finger droops.
The Creator of the universe is straining like a man reaching for someone going over a cliff.
And the man can't be bothered to straighten one finger.
Michelangelo painted that on purpose. And he painted it in agony, four years on scaffolding under that ceiling, head cranked back, paint dripping into his beard. He hated it enough to write a poem about it, complaining that his spine had bent like a bow and he could no longer read a letter without holding it above his head.
Four years of that. To say one thing:
You did not climb to God. God dove to you.
Every religion on earth is a ladder. Purify yourself, discipline yourself, ascend. Michelangelo put the opposite on the ceiling of the most important church in the world: man reclining, barely participating, and God closing the distance at speed.
Genesis 2:7. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
God breathed. Adam received. That's the whole transaction. Adam contributed the dust.
Now look under God's left arm.
There's a woman tucked against His side. His arm is wrapped around her. And she isn't watching the miracle; she's looking past God's shoulder, straight at Adam.
The oldest reading says that's Eve.
Not yet created. Not yet formed. Already held. Already watching the man she'll be given to, from inside the embrace of God, because she existed in His mind before she existed in the world.
Jeremiah 1:5. Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee.
Ephesians 1:4. He hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world.
You were in that mantle once before your parents met, before anything.
And about that mantle, in 1990, a physician named Frank Meshberger was studying the fresco and published something that made art historians sit down. Trace the outline of the crimson cloak, the angels, the whole swirling mass around God.
It matches a cross-section of the human brain. The fissures. The lobes. The stem.
Michelangelo dissected corpses. He knew human anatomy better than most surgeons of his century. Whether he hid it there deliberately is argued to this day, but if he did, the sermon is staggering: God isn't just handing Adam a heartbeat. He's giving him a mind. The image of God. The capacity to know his Maker.
So God has crossed the sky. Arm at full extension. Nothing left to give. He has closed all the distance that can be closed from His side.
And the fingers don't touch.
Michelangelo froze them apart forever. A half-inch of empty plaster carrying more weight than the rest of the ceiling combined.
Because look whose finger has slack left in it.
Not God's.
Adam could close that gap by straightening one knuckle. One. The remaining distance is his, the smallest movement in the painting, and the only one God will not make for him.
That half-inch is free will. God will cross a universe. He will not cross your consent.
But here's what the ceiling can't show you, because it happened fifteen centuries after Genesis and Michelangelo painted the before.
The touch happens.
God's hand and human flesh finally meet not above the clouds, but in Bethlehem, when the hand that flung the stars became a hand small enough to grab Mary's finger. God stopped reaching across the gap and stepped into it. Took a body. Took a hand.
And when that hand was finally stretched out as far as human arms go, extended like the arm on the ceiling, full reach, nothing held back.
We nailed it there.
That's where the two fingers meet. At the cross. God at full stretch and man at his worst, touching at last through an iron spike.
And three days later that hand was moving again. Folding grave clothes. Cooking breakfast. Offering its scars to a doubter.
It's still extended. The ceiling is still true. He has done all the reaching, crossed all the sky, closed all the distance that love can close without your permission.
The last half-inch has always been yours.
Lift your hand.

This is how Lebanon went from being a prosperous Christian country to being taken over and destroyed by Muslims. Pay close attention!
“As Christians, we opened our doors to Muslims and welcomed them into our country. We wanted to be inclusive and even made them part of the government.
Because they had several wives and many children, Muslims became the majority. Once they were the majority, they thought they could do whatever they wanted, and began massacring the Christians who welcomed them.”
Centuries before Jesus was born, Hebrew writers described a coming figure in unsettling detail.
His birthplace. His family line. The price of His betrayal. The manner of His death, described in an era when that method of execution had not yet been invented.
And we can prove these texts existed long before He did.
Here are ten of them. 🧵

Senior pastor Lorenzo Sewell of 180 Church in Detroit, the same pastor who spoke at the Dearborn City Council meeting last week and prayed at Trump's inauguration has been saying Dearborn is operating under Sharia and that Arab prosperity comes from the backs of Black people.
He says that preaching Jesus now requires armed security:
“My whole life the only thing I’ve done is given my money to Arabs. There’s not a place I can go, there’s no gas I can spend, there’s not a bottle of water I can buy. There’s not a place in this city that a Black man can’t go where he’s not funding Islam.”
“Can you imagine in Texas? They’re building 4 Mosques a month, debt free. Can you imagine they just built a $20 million mosque right down the street from me? When preaching the word of God becomes dangerous. When I can’t even say the word “Jesus” in a place. We come to a place where I had to have armed security around me.”
“I’m not saying I hate Islam. I’m not saying I hate Muslims. I’m saying there are 57 countries where you can practice that. Go back there. But there’s a reason why you’re not going back. Because you’ve not come here to assimilate. You’ve come here to take over.”
Why should the U.S. have to be the 58th country?
There is a statue in Milan Cathedral that tourists mistake for a man wearing a robe.
Then they look closer.
The robe has hands. The robe has a face. The robe has feet, hanging down his back like the hood of a cloak.
He is wearing his own skin.
Saint Bartholomew Flayed. Carved by Marco d'Agrate in 1562. Every muscle exposed. Tendons like rope. Veins running down forearms with no skin to hide under. And draped over his shoulders, folded neat as a priest's vestment, everything they took off of him.
The sculptor was so proud of the anatomy that he carved a boast into the base: Praxiteles did not make me. Marco d'Agrate did.
But the statue isn't the story.
The story is who this man was.
Bartholomew is Nathanael. Same man: Bartholomew is the family name, Nathanael the given one. And Nathanael enters the Bible by insulting Jesus to His friend's face.
John 1:45. Philip runs to him: We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth.
Nathanael's answer: Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth?
That's the future apostle. First recorded words: trash-talking the Messiah's hometown.
Then he walks up to Jesus, and before he can say a word, Jesus says something no one had ever said about him.
Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
No guile. No mask. No hidden self. Nothing performed. What you see is what he is, even when what he is, is rude about Nazareth.
Nathanael is stunned. Whence knowest thou me?
Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
Under the fig tree.
Slow down. Where have you seen fig leaves before?
Genesis 3:7. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
Fig leaves are the first thing shame ever made. The first human invention was a covering. Adam heard God in the garden and hid, and men have been hiding ever since behind reputations, behind religion, behind the version of themselves they let people see.
And Jesus finds Nathanael under a fig tree, the plant of hiding, and announces that this man hides nothing.
I saw thee.
Before Philip called you. Before you knew My name. Under the tree. I saw you already, and I'm still calling you.
That one sentence broke Nathanael. Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel. From insult to confession in two verses.
Now follow him to the end.
Scripture doesn't record his death, but the tradition is ancient and unanimous about the manner of it. He carried the gospel east, as far as Armenia. And when they decided to kill him for it, they didn't hang him or behead him first.
They flayed him. Alive. They took his skin.
The man in whom was no guile, no covering, no mask, no hidden layer, died with the last covering he had peeled away.
And here's what the sculptor saw that the executioners didn't.
D'Agrate didn't carve the skin lying in the dirt. He didn't carve it in an enemy's fist. He carved it draped over Bartholomew's shoulders like a stole. Like a garment of office. Folded. Worn. The way a priest wears what he's been given, not what was taken.
The thing they used to destroy him, he wears like vestments.
Because that's what God does with what the world strips off His people.
Isaiah 61:10. He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation; he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness.
Revelation 6:11. And white robes were given unto every one of them, that's the martyrs, the ones killed for the word of God.
They took his covering. God had a better one waiting.
Now you.
You're under the tree right now. The fig leaves fit so well you've forgotten you're wearing them. The polished version of you at church. The profile. The reputation. The self you perform because you're certain the real one, seen plainly, would be walked away from.
Ask Nathanael how that works out.
The only man Jesus ever publicly certified as having no mask is the man He praised on sight. Seeing all of him was not the obstacle. Seeing all of him was the compliment.
He already sees under yours. Before you ever call on Him, before your Philip ever finds you, He has already looked under the tree, seen the whole thing, everything the leaves were for.
And He's still calling you.
Come out from under the tree.
He has robes.
