Our family was invited to attend the 2025 BC Prov Wrestling Championships today where they presented us with a plaque to honour our dad’s legacy in the sport of Wrestling.A place where our dad was at his best. It was so neat to see so many familiar faces. What a pleasure it was.
@JasonBeck82 Bill was the first overall pick (@TorontoArgos) in 1960 CFL draft, from Western Ontario. Ended playing career with @BCLions. Got to know him, covering high school sports (he was Centennial’s wrestling coach) in the 70s. N.b. My wife, a Centennial grad, was his kids’ babysitter.
Very sad to report the passing of one of Canada's great wrestling coaches, Coquitlam's Bill Mitchell, on February 11th at the age of 89. Bill coached an army of young wrestlers at Centennial Secondary over several decades as well as some of Canada's best like Chris Wilson.../2
