You just don't let Rodri go unless the money is insane. His presence makes life post Pep a thousand times easier for Maresca. He likely improves Anderson (Bouaddi too?) and makes City vastly more likely to win the league. He ensures a hugely smoother transition almost single-handedly as he's that good. He can genuinely make life post Pep easier. No reasonable amount of money can cover that.

He's smart enough to understand it's just business too. Tell him he can go when his contract is up and get a ridiculous amount of money on a free, but for now he can see it out, become City captain, probably get a special send off where they announce a statue of him holding his Ballon d'Or and maybe even lift the Premier League trophy as captain. If he does that he'll probably win more individual honours too.

It's a no brainer IMO for him and City. He's not someone you look to make financial gain on. You use a player like Rodri for what they bring to the club in a playing and mentality sense, not as an asset on a spreadsheet. He's an exceptionally unique footballer - the longer he is at City, the better in every single way. Make the most of him this year, as we fucking need him post Pep.
