The amount of dread I felt when this episode dropped, since I knew it was coming from reading the manga way before the anime. It's genuinely one of the cruelest scenes in the story specifically because of how sadly real it felt

Ketil throughout the entire story up until then, was viewed as a very kind man, who was generous to everyone around him, wanting to be viewed as a good man. You would never expect this type of violence and cruelty from him

But as soon as he lost his wealth and power, the monster he truly was made itself known, latching on to the one "good" thing he had and in the end destroying it

It's not that he was always evil or suddenly changed personalities, he was just human, and humans can become worse than any monster when they don't get what they want or think they deserve

Fuck man, Arnheid's death still haunts me years after I first read it, and the anime team deserves all the praise for not holding back in portraying how disgusting and tragic this whole scene was

@Iska_dr1 @tishray I'm not sure I agree, his acts aren't because he sees the future, its because of his childish version of freedom he grew up with. A world without enemies and with sights of nature he only dreamed of seeing he was a slave to said ideal of freedom which causes him to genocide.
