A new era in the fight against PRRS.
For the first time, a genetic solution to PRRS is here: PIC has received FDA approval for the gene edit used in its PRRS-resistant pig, determining the technology is safe and effective.
PRRS is one of the most devastating diseases in global pork production, not only impacting animal welfare, but increasing the need for antibiotics and the environmental impact of raising pigs. This FDA-approved disease resistant technology provides a path toward removing PRRS and creating a healthier, more sustainable industry.
➡️ What’s next for pork producers?
“We are committed to the responsible and intentional introduction of the PRRS-resistant pig around the globe. Gaining FDA approval for the technology is an important step in this process, and we are working with additional countries to gain regulatory approval and protect global trade prior to initiating sales and delivery,” said Matt Culbertson, PIC’s Chief Operating Officer.
