"Ugandans have discovered that, increasingly, there is nowhere to hide. Civic life here is defined by thickening webs of state surveillance built with foreign help. ... Technology has created an intrusive eye that never blinks, a stealthy weapon for dictators keen to stifle speech and thought."

Uganda’s Parliament is once again confronting the reality of a struggling economy a weakening shilling, rising fuel prices and an increasingly expensive cost of living.
Leader of the Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi put the government on the spot, questioning what is being done about the country’s fuel prices, petroleum reserves and broader economic policies. Parliament heard that petrol and diesel prices have climbed to around Shs6,800–7,000 per litre, with the weaker shilling adding further pressure to the cost of imported fuel.
But Ssenyonyi also brought the Protection of Sovereignty law back into the conversation.
He reminded government that during the debate over the sovereignty bill, the opposition had warned that restrictions affecting foreign funding and foreign interests could have consequences for Uganda’s balance of payments and investor confidence.
Ssenyonyi specifically cited an earlier warning attributed to Bank of Uganda Governor Michael Atingi-Ego, who told Parliament’s committees that the proposed law could contribute to substantial depreciation of the shilling because of its potential effect on the balance of payments.
The law was ultimately passed in May 2026 and came into force on May 22. Its final version regulates foreign agents and funding, while explicitly exempting lawful foreign direct investment, portfolio investment, diaspora remittances, trade finance and several other legitimate foreign-exchange flows.
So the question Ssenyonyi is putting back on the table is straightforward:
Were the concerns raised by the opposition during the sovereignty bill debate justified, and what has the government done to prevent the law from undermining investor confidence or foreign-exchange inflows?
Meanwhile, the government has pointed to other immediate causes of the fuel-price surge including the falling shilling, higher international petroleum prices and a Shs200-per-litre increase in excise duty that took effect in July.
In other words, Parliament is now debating not just the price at the pump, but the bigger question of what is driving Uganda’s economic pressure and whether earlier policy warnings were adequately addressed.

Our legal team, leaders and comrades today pitched camp at the Masaka High Court for the bail ruling of our comrades Achileo Kivumbi, Grace Smart Wakabi, Eddie Mutwe and Gadaffi Mugumya on the trumped up charges of ‘aggravated robbery’
The court granted a UGX cash bail of 5millions for each of these comrades bringing the total fee to UGX 20m. The bail implies that comrades Gaddafi Mugumya and Grace Smart Wakabi will be freed if the bail fees are met in cash, while our comrades Achileo Kivumbi and Eddie Mutwe will remain at Luzira prison (where they are illegally detained) as they battle with another trumped up charge of ‘unlawful drilling’ at the Kanyanya court.

In this stirring video, a mother asks how a regime that brutalised her during the January 2026 elections for simply holding the Ugandan flag can now claim the moral authority to forcefully send her S6-leaver child to Kyankwanzi for “patriotism” training!
Having come to the realization that citizens are now politically awake, the Museveni dictatorship is now trying to indoctrinate our unsuspecting children. WE MUST NOT ALLOW IT!
Dear Daughter,
One paradoxical thing about me and being a father is that my greatest hope is also one of my greatest fears.
I hope to see my children grow, spread their wings and fly freely into the world. At the same time, I fear for them as they fly into a world that can sometimes be so unkind.
As you grow older, my girl, I pray that you will be safe wherever life takes you and that you will find favor, love and happiness.
And no matter how big you grow and how many years pass, you will always be my little girl.
Happy birthday, my dearest Shalom Namagembe Nalunkuuma. ❤️
Taata loves you beyond words, beyond time, and beyond measure.
Museveni's criminal son confirms what we all know: that our brother, Sam Mugumya, who has been missing for over a year is under his personal custody. This after his spokesman, Chris Magezi tried to whitewash and cover up these crimes by trying to dismiss Lt. Mabonga Herbert's revelations as mere fabrications.
Like he has done to many other victims, he is promising to shoot him to death.
Nowhere in this modern world has any person abused power so much and publicly owned up so many crimes against humanity! We are lucky that this brutal criminal is writing his own charge-sheet before the whole world. And yes, the whole world will see him come tumbling down like a house of cards, and answer for these crimes one by one.
Hang in there brother Sam. May you outlive those who are taking you through hell.

What this leaked video of a soldier checking Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi's blood pressure while under incomunicado detention proves is how institutionalised the system of torture in Uganda is. All comrades who have been to those torture chambers will tell you that after being brutalised, the system then sends in other soldiers who claim to be medical doctors to check on you and determine whether you're medically fit to take in more beatings! They torture you, treat you and torture you again! At times these 'doctors' come in when victims are about to be released or taken to court. In such cases they inject victims with unknown substances to quickly reduce swellings before victims appear in public. Then there are those whom they send to speak to victims and convince them to abandon the struggle. At times such operatives are also detained so that they come in as your fellow captives, but the mission is to compromise some unsuspecting persons.
In all, I am glad that the stories so many Ugandans have narrated in the past are now getting backed by video evidence. I encourage all patriotic Ugandans to continue using their cameras to expose the madness, the crimes, the rot. There will be accountability for the crimes being committed against our people!
You can easily pass by this house and think it's a normal home. Yet this is a torture chamber manned by SFC, located at Abayita Ababiri, Kabaale B Village on Entebbe Road. At this house and the adjacent facilities, Ugandans and non-Ugandans are subjected to incredible torture. Some accounts indicate that some victims could not take it and when they died, they were simply buried behind this house in unmarked graves.
And yet this is just one of the many torture chambers operated by the Museveni system. There are several such places in every Division of Kampala and Wakiso, and in most districts of Uganda. Sadly, these are houses in our neighborhoods, and the people who commit atrocities against our people live amongst us. Thankfully, they're being exposed one by one, and so shall they account for every crime committed against our people!
This morning, I checked on our sister @AloikinOpoloje who was remanded to Luzira women’s prison. Her resolve is unshaken and her promise is that she will never bow down until she sees a free and just society!
FREE ALOIKIN PRAISE!
“It is our right to oppose and have an alternative view….True freedom fighters are always okay with dissent. We must vehemently object to this (tendency of instilling fear),” part of the key highlights of the LoP @JoelSsenyonyi message at today’s press address in Makerere Kavule

Many people commenting about Praise Aloikin obviously do not know the resolve of the young lady they’re talking about. Here is part of her acceptance speech for the EU Human Rights Defenders Award 2025
Many times, our comrades who are abducted by Museveni and his criminal son have narrated how they are forced to put on Museveni's t-shirts and praise him on camera! Here is a video of our brother Sam Mugumya in dictator Museveni's T-shirt. For over a year, Sam Mugumya has been missing. He is being held at an SFC run safe house located at Abaita Ababiri, Kabaale B Village in Entebbe. He was gravely tortured and his legs broken. He is now learning to walk afresh! As our comrades have severally narrated, Sam was violated in every possible way. Thankfully, the videos from the torture chambers are now being leaked by patriotic officers who these criminals employ to commit crimes but what they do doesn't sit well with their conscience. The world cannot afford any more silence about these crimes against humanity! UGANDA WILL BE FREE!
Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi is safely home. After eight long months of unjustified detention without trial. Thank you all for your prayers and solidarity. WE SHALL OVERCOME!
