Kokkels en wadslakjes komen enkel voor op rustige plekken. Soorten als de wapenworm en de Amerikaanse zwaardschede gedijen goed bij een intermediaire dynamiek. Alleen weerbare en mobiele soorten (kniksprietkreeftjes en bepaalde zandzagers) overleven het in de dynamische gebieden
