Over the past few days, while we had no internet in Iran and relied only on satellite TV, I repeatedly saw Western media like @CNN and @FRANCE24 describe Hassan Rouhani as a “moderate” and a viable successor to Ali Khamenei.
I find it hard to believe that those so-called “experts” are unaware of the killing of more than 1,500 protesters or the deliberate shootdown of a passenger plane during his presidency in 2018.
So let me draw your attention to his very "moderate" speech after the crackdown on students in 1999:
“Those rioters who in recent days have been attacking the regime will be punished in court as enemies of God and corruptors on earth.
If it were not for the restraint of officials, our revolutionary Muslim youth would have torn these thugs and hooligans apart, piece by piece.
These elements will be suppressed with force.”
@antonioguterres Hey you wanna congratulate Islamic regime for launching counter attack like you congratulated them on their annivesary after killing thousands of people? 🤮
@brhodes Imminent threat to who? A genocide has happened in Iran, regime has killed thousands of people what else should happen for you to call it “imminent threat” ?
@CAIRNational People of Iran are in dire need of help. If you cared about people of Iran whom they’re mourning killing of more than 30,000 of protesters you would have said at least a word in Farsi not Arabic. You’re a pathetic hypocrite 🤮
