There is a small but significant chapter in Tom Bower's book, Revenge, that immediately precedes the engagement. While re-reading it today I think it would be prudent to cover this before we launch into the engagement of Harry to Rachel Meghan.
Catherine revealed in September 2017 she was expecting her third child with Prince William, and she battled her severe morning sickness again.
Meghan was hoping to be best friends with Catherine, but after Meg's flagrant Vanity Fair cover and story about being "Wild About Harry", Catherine kept her distance from Meghan.
This appears to have bothered both Meghan and Harry, but Catherine had not revealed anything to the press for fame's sake. The paparazzi had chased Catherine relentlessly for many years, while Meg would have loved to have had such displays of interest in her.
Harry found his Windsor family to be urging caution into rushing things with Meghan, and the Palace certainly knew about Meghan's illustrious past. There were many reasons why Harry should never have married Meghan. Many.
Harry decided to take his girlfriend to see his Spencer relatives. Meghan met Diana's two sisters, Sarah and Jane, and Diana's best friend, and Harry marveled at how like Diana, Meghan was.
"No one agreed that his vulnerable mother had anything in common with his girlfriend. More discomforting for him, they thought Meghan would not fit in with the Royal Family."
Even Charles Spencer, Diana's brother spoke to Harry about not rushing into marriage. Basically, everyone was urging caution and taking lots of time to know Meghan, but sadly for Harry, he didn't heed anyone's advice.
Meghan idolizes Diana and has since she was fairly young. She even sold Harry into thinking she is so similar to his deceased mother and now he believes Diana speaks to Meghan. This might be comical to most of us, but with Harry's penchant for using drugs, and it's more than weed, he appears to have bought into the lie that Meg is just like Diana.
Harry uses weed, psychedelics, cocaine and drinks quite a lot of alcohol. He's been doing this since he was fourteen, so was/is Harry's thinking impaired? It's likely.
Nobody thought Meg was like Diana at all, and yet Meg perpetuated that lie to Harry, even to the point of making Harry think she's going to die like his mother did. This, despite Meghan having no paps following her unless she's walking through a parking lot and has called Back Grid.
It wasn't just William and Catherine who thought Harry should take it slowly. Everyone on both sides of his family believed it and told him so.
I'd love to launch into their engagement, and it's rather sad because Harry thoughtfully planned out the engagement ring that Meghan felt underwhelmed by and disappointed in. It's sad that Harry asked her to marry him over roast chicken, which also has a gauche sexual meaning.
Their interview was a disaster, since they were lying through their teeth. And their photo shoot involved see-through clothing. Basically, Harry should have been watching Meghan during this time, but he fooled himself.

NEW: Three American children struck by a lightning bolt on a beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The children, ages 7, 10 and 12 were huddling with each other when a lightning bolt hit the group.

The kids were seen all falling backward at the same time when the bolt hit them.

According to WAPA TV, the 12-year-old is in critical condition and the 7-year-old lost feeling in his feet.
