Perhaps, one way he can start the process of redeeming himself would be to introduce bills that would outlaw all of the mercenary contractors; demand an immediate audit of the DoD & freeze all funding until it's completed-including higher ups pay; reparations to all countries (1)
@truthtotweet@ATLCWorker@Leslie64993617@flrainh Hey Edward
I know things b/w us were rocky a few years ago. I still think about you and the music you shared. You are a genuine soul and I wanted you to know that.
May life continue to treat you well.
Much love and peace
- Kate
The entire modern world is built on anti-Blackness. It is the foundation of capitalism and colonialism.
Skin color, hair texture, recent ancestry… It is truly that superficial and yet that deep at the same time.
@OrevaZSN That is not my experience. People can say the SAME thing about Twitter.
I am annoyed when people shit on other platforms. They ALL have major issues and fake shit. Welcome to online life.
Many people still don’t realize that literacy isn’t just about being able to read. It’s about being able to comprehend, evaluate, and apply the information in front of you. The gap between the two is becoming increasingly alarming.
They are literally getting away with mass murder now, and have more planned. Sanders is part of the problem. His romantic nostalgia for postwar imperial America is unfit for purpose in an age of genocide, collapsing norms, raging racism and unhinged capitalist frenzy.

The US is not a democracy. Its key economic, media and political institutions are owned by coalitions of economically secure and collectively powerful elites - and not just “the billionaires”. They permit you just enough democracy to keep your morale up, but not enough to threaten their power.

It’s not enough for people to have class consciousness @hasanthehun, they must have an informed analysis of the institutional structures of the US system, of which the complex class structure is a part.

“People get used to anything. The less you think about your oppression, the more your tolerance for it grows. After a while, people just think oppression is the normal state of things. But to become free, you have to be acutely aware of being a slave.” -Assata Shakur
I also judge by platforms but not only by that. I vetted more than 700 candidates during my time at the org I worked for that supported indie candidates. I also advised 2 insurgent candidates running for Senate in Maine, one who ran against Susan Collins in 2020.
I've been anti-AIPAC for a decade and supported Palestinian liberation for years.
I want to support Platner. But, I see many, many red flags, sadly. The point is, if he wins, we can't just go back to sleep. And this guy needs to be pushed and monitored.
I'm so sorry your friend is living with that. This is one aspect of the imperialist machine.
I do think that there's redemption for people. But, I don't think that redemption has to involve elevating people like Platner to one of 100 most powerful seats in our government. Especially someone who just last year spoke gleefully about their "wartime adventures," in their 30s.
Yes, I have before. His website is clear. Though I am glad he recognizes the genocide in Gaza, and that's a major positive. He also supports increasing the military, fixing "falling recruitment numbers," and promoting a "strong military," with somewhat vague language. All on his website.
I get wanting hope. But, how do you know? Back in March of just last year, in an interview, he compared his time at Abu Ghraib to a video game. He still, in many ways, celebrates his "service." In my opinion, we need to raise the bar of what a hero is. The majority of us have never been mercenaries.
I hear voting for him as the lesser evil, because the bar is in hell. I don't understand people putting a cape around this man's neck as if he's the best of us.
Platner's platform has a litany of issues. I don't that care my views are seen as controversial, or "purity testing." I'm tired of us being saddled with, "well, he's kind of an apologetic mercenary and possible war criminal, sort of."
Signing up for Blackwater as a 30-year-old man, to make the bag is not someone I want seated in Congress. Period. I warned about Fetterman.
The bar is in hell, I get that. But the bar is also set by what we are willing to capitulate to.
The horrors persist, but so do the sea, the moon, sunsets, forests, rivers, ocean waves, wildflowers, fresh air after a storm, mountain views, trees, libraries, books, good music, laughter, warm hugs, deep conversations that make time disappear, and the word “fuck.”
