Clay Travis absolutely nails Australia's 'Welcome to Country' ceremonies.
"They are apologising because they brought the Aboriginal people out of the Stone Ages."
"The idea of apologising for Western Civilisation should end immediately."
As an Aussie, I can you, many of us are against this divisive nonsense.
Plenty of Australians turn their backs, boo, or use this time as a toilet break or to get a drink when we have to endure it at sports games and entertainment events.
Australia was better when it was more united and less woke.
Andrew Hastie has now been formally challenged over a remarkable response to independent commentator Chris Katelaris, better known as Big Chocky, after effectively telling him his opinion might carry more weight once he had enlisted and put his body on the line for Australia. Hastie then signed off with a sneer, calling him “Little Chocolate” and telling him not to melt under the heat.
Katelaris had already made clear he was criticising Hastie’s political record, not his ADF service. Hastie answered by reaching for the uniform anyway. That is an extraordinary position for an elected MP to take with an Australian civilian questioning his conduct. Parliament is not a veterans-only debating chamber and Australians do not need military credentials before politicians are required to take them seriously.
Chris has now sent Hastie a formal request to withdraw the remark and apologise publicly, not to him personally, but to Australians who have never served in the ADF. The letter gives Hastie seven days to respond and argues that military service does not confer greater democratic standing over the people Parliament exists to represent.
It is particularly rich after days of political outrage demanding Australians show special restraint when criticising Hastie because he served. His service deserves respect. It does not become a shield when Hastie is under attack and then a measuring stick he can use to dismiss civilians challenging his politics. You cannot demand equality before political scrutiny while telling ordinary Australians they have not sacrificed enough to be taken seriously.
Hastie wanted to make the argument about who had worn the uniform. Katelaris has now dragged it back to where it belongs. An Australian citizen challenged a federal MP over his political decisions and was answered with his lack of military service and “Little Chocolate”. Now the MP has seven days to decide whether he stands by it.
@HastieRblx resign now you incompetent flog
Andrew Hastie’s tantrum over the One Nation cartoon calling him a “traitor” is pure selective outrage. The cartoon’s use of the word has zero nexus to his military service. It targets his politics: testifying against Ben Roberts-Smith and voting yes for Labor’s hate speech bill after publicly promising to vote no.
Being a veteran is not a get-out-of-accountability card you wave only when it suits you. It doesn’t immunise you from criticism of broken promises or policy flip-flops.
I worked as a senior solicitor with the Defence and Veterans Legal Service, supporting veterans and families through the Royal Commission into Defence and Veterans Suicide. That Commission produced 122 recommendations. Labor has treated far too many of them as a tick-box exercise. Where has Hastie’s “fierce advocacy” been on actually forcing proper, timely implementation and holding the government to account for the veterans still being failed? Silence when it doesn’t serve the political moment is not leadership.
Service earns respect. It does not buy immunity from scrutiny or the right to demand others shut up when the criticism is about your votes and your words, not your service record.

@ChavuraStephen I am a Veteran. I never deployed but nonetheless I served. Most of my family are Veterans, including my father. This individual, albeit a Veteran, is an embarrassment. She is the last person who our Veterans should want “advocating” for them.
BREAKING: Australian Lobby Group Press Statement
For Immediate Release
9 September 2026
Brisbane, Australia
THE AUSTRALIAN LOBBY GROUP AND AUSTRALIA MARCHES CONDEMN PRIME MINISTER ALBANESE’S LEAD ON EGREGIOUS VERBAL ATTACKS AND DANGEROUS RHETORIC DIRECTING HARM TOWARD ORDINARY, HARD-WORKING AUSTRALIANS.
Following rapid and inappropriate escalation by the Prime Minister after the Secret Harbour by-election, Senator Hanson has advised she won’t be able to make her previous commitment to attend Sunday’s Brisbane Rally against Mass Immigration. We have been advised her office was unable to secure AFP protection resource due to hard budget restraints applied by the Albanese Labor Government.
Statements attributable to Ms Senator Hanson
“Senator Hansen deeply regrets she cannot attend The Australian Marches events in person. She stands with every Australian turning out to support their country and the values on which it was built.
“Security advice about Senator Hanson personally has meant she cannot appear. That is an indictment on how much Australia has changed: standing up for these values now attracts threats that would once have been unthinkable. Those threats are directed at her as a public figure, not at the decent Australians exercising their right to assemble.
“Recent violent rhetoric by the Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Jim Chalmers and other ministers toward sensible Australians who can see past the lies, is unacceptable. Political violence is un-Australian. We will not bow to it. Mass immigration is the Labor Governments Achillies heel to hide reckless trashing of the Australian economy.
“The extremism of the far-left has been coddled and encouraged by Labor and the Greens for too long. They treat the very existence of Australia as illegitimate, something to tear down. Peaceful, reasonable opposition is met with intimidation because that is the only language they know.
Australians want their country back, and support in the community is growing. The events are going ahead. Senator Hanson asks Australians to turn out in numbers across the country for this national rally tour against Mass Immigration & Foreign Interference. Send the message that we are proud of our country and the values on which it was built.
Statements attributable to Mr Scott Challen (Australian Lobby Group)
“That is the Australian way: peaceful demonstration, building support in the community, holding our leaders to account, and voting. Freedom of speech. Freedom of assembly. Australian democracy. Defend it by showing up.
“Don’t stay home because she cannot be there. This is about you, Australians coming together. Come because your voice matters. This is yet another attempt by the Albanese government to silence any objections to his ‘Modern Australia’ Agenda which doesn’t include Australians. A crowd of decent Australians is the answer to intimidation, not an empty street – Be there to March Against Mass Immigration & Foreign Influence on Sunday in Brisbane starting at 12pm at Emma Miller Place, led by horseback flag-bearers down to Parliament House.”
