Being in community with @BespokeLib always feeds my soul. She gets it. And her practice is a beautiful model of librarianship built on the core values of JOY+BELONGING in a way that can only be present when systems that cause harm are de-centered & Ss are humanized. #ncslma24
Walked away with some great takeaways from @LeadwithReading steeped in joyful literacy programming and practices. Canβt wait to try some out in our @NESlibrary ππΌππ― #NCSLMA24
Our morning was filled with our 5th graders getting back into the library, centering their thoughts and feedback and loading them up with books to begin another beautiful year together @NorthsideES#CHCCSLibraries β€οΈ

So thankful to have community support around this shift in how we think of Book Fairs in our schools & the purpose they serve. What an incredible endeavor our @CHC_PSF has done to lift this up as a central focus to Think + Act Differently in @chccs#TrueBookFAIR#CHCCSLibraries
And I am forever grateful for the fierce student-centered + equity-driven work of librarian Julie Stivers @BespokeLib who taught me how to make this a reality in our @NESlibrary. Want to learn more? She has a whole chapter dedicated to this in the book below. #TrueBookFAIRS
πβ€οΈ #TrueBookFAIRS not only build a community of JOY around book ownership, it also supports equitable access to literacy, which is what we should always be advocating for through our libraries. All books - All Joy - for All. Always. #CHCCSLibraries
Several CHCCS elementary schools have held TRUE Book Fairs this spring, but the original district host & advocate for this tradition is Kat Cole at Northside ES, whose library just wrapped up its 3rd TRUE Book Fair last week, with thanks to @CHC_PSF.
