What I Want from Maine's Next Governor: A Vision for a Stronger, Fairer Maine for Everyone
As a lifelong Mainer, I'm ready for leadership that puts working families, rural communities, and our state's future first. Here's what matters most to me—and I believe to many of us:
--Prioritize opportunities for Maine kids and families — Invest in education, job training, and living-wage careers so our young people can stay, build homes, and thrive here instead of leaving for better prospects elsewhere. Help our children feel valued by the state in which they live.
--Smart, accountable government — Balance budgets responsibly while focusing on real results: innovation, efficiency, and letting hardworking Mainers keep more of their earnings to support their families and communities. Don’t ignore fraud.
--Protect our forests, waters, and way of life — Say no to big out-of-state energy projects that clear our woods and harm wildlife just to provide power elsewhere. We do not exist to uplift another state at our expense, no matter what they tell us. Maine's natural beauty and clean air are treasures—we should lead on sustainable renewables that benefit Mainers first and other states as a by-product.
--Celebrate Maine's unique identity — We're proud of our hardworking, independent spirit. We are not North Massachusetts. Welcome visitors and newcomers who respect and contribute to our communities, while ensuring policies strengthen our rural towns, not just southern or coastal hubs.
--Build a Maine where everyone can succeed — Focus on lifting up all residents—including longtime Mainers, not just new arrivals, and our diverse workforce—through fair access to jobs, housing, and education. A stronger economy and a sense of value helps us all.
--Represent all of Maine — Value the voices of rural counties like Aroostook, the working-class heart of our state: hard work, neighborly care, and keeping government out of personal lives as much as possible.
--Support self-reliance and choice — Let people decide how to help others through voluntary giving, churches, and nonprofits, while reducing tax burdens and poor energy policies that make it harder for families to get by.
--End endless property taxes on what we already own — Homes, land, and vehicles shouldn't feel like perpetual rent to government. Focus on real progress that doesn't require more taxes and doesn’t just pass the tax burden on to towns.
--Defend the right to grow your own food — Back backyard gardens, small farms, and homesteading without unnecessary interference—it's about freedom and self-sufficiency. Don’t allow businesses to penalize us for choosing to live off the grid.
--Keep sports and spaces fair and safe — Base policies on biology and safety for girls' and women's athletics and private areas, while treating everyone with dignity and respect. Special populations deserve their own spaces, where they can be comfortable and uplift each other.
--Back our law enforcement — Give officers the tools, training, and support they need to keep communities safe, while ensuring fair enforcement and accountability. Don’t force officers to compromise their principles while protecting communities.
--Level the playing field for small businesses — End no-bid contracts and cronyism; stop preferences for special populations and make it easier for everyday Mainers to start and grow businesses. In Maine, inequity touches everyone, including long time Mainers.
--Protect our Second Amendment rights — Uphold responsible gun ownership and protect hunting, sport, protection, and heritage—without punishing law-abiding citizens. Do not infringe on basic constitutional rights in the name of preventionism.
--Demand transparency and bipartisanship — No dodging tough questions, no insider deals. Remove all appearances of Conflicts of Interest in government and do not allow a Secretary of State to oversee their own election. Work across aisles to serve the people, not special interests or party lines. Force political rivals to find common ground. Pass Voter ID laws to protect election integrity so we stop feeling like the odds are never in our favor.
--Lead like a true Mainer — Be straightforward, listen to everyday folks, consider all sides, propose common ground solutions, and fight corruption so government truly serves us all.

If the next governor fights for these Maine values—fairness, opportunity, environmental stewardship, personal freedom, and real accountability—they'll have my support. Maine deserves better. Let's build a state where everyone can live, work, and raise families with pride and security. 💙🌲

It's kinda rich of UK to arrest the Prince but not prosecute any of the gang members and foreigners systematically raping England's young girls. I have no respect for UK and find stupid analogies meant to degrade our own govt stupidity. Frankly the Epstein files haven't told me anything I didn't already believe. We need to move on. It's too late to prosecute anyone.

Everyone has the right to assemble. I'm not sure I agree that it should happen at a school and be sanctioned by the school. You may say it isn't a school activity but because you are allowing it to happen on school property and during school hours instead of asserting control over the property and the students in your care, your actions convict you of sanctioned activities more than your words of denial convince us otherwise...

The Democrats are opposing Homeland Security, as in, opposing the Security of the United States. How can you say you represent the citizens of this country when you oppose such a basic thing? @SenateDems @SenateGOP @HouseGOP @HouseDemocrats ? Oh wait, you don't represent its citizens, do you? You represent illegals. Can't you move to their countries and represent them there? I'm sure you'll be welcomed with open arms, free housing, free food, free healthcare, free education, priority for business loans, and assistance in setting up businesses that can fraudulently bill their government. With your public track record of their welfare over U.S. citizens, getting elected in their countries should not be a problem.
