Here’s my payslip as a first year doctor in 2005, next to a first year doctor colleague’s in 2023. 18 years later, their take home salary is less than mine was. I lived for free in hospital accommodation and had a fraction of their student loan.

This is absolutely atrocious. Terese Coffeys comments are irresponsible, dangerous and just plain stupid. She needs to learn about antibiotic stewardship & think about how she has said what she has. She’s in a position of power and should remember that! #AntibioticResistance

Doctors do not - unlike Coffey - dish out spare antibiotics to our family & friends because we’re painfully aware of the harms of antibiotic resistance. Utter recklessness.
