Historically, was the #sunflower a symbol of resistance in #Latvia?

Wondered if the sunflower could mean anything?
He came over to East London in the 1880s on ships as a mariner before working as a dock labourer.

@robbeckettcomic I was sad to hear about the cabby who smeared a brilliant day out to the football with good ol' misogyny. I've now accidentally started referring to that cab as the new Room 101, and all I can now say about any misogynist is 'oh put him in the cab'.
