Hello! I am recruiting for my dissertation study and would be so grateful for any help passing this survey along or participating if eligible. You can participate if you are over 18, can speak/read English, have been diagnosed with any ED, and are receiving any treatment.
@AgnesAyton Remembering this awful article...compassion is never "harmful." Compassion knows someone should not suffer, and so requires hope that liberation is possible. It's not passive. It's required for action. When clinicians were firm from real compassion and hope...I recovered
Medicine does this infuriating thing with women's health where we all notice a repeating pattern of debilitating symptoms and then call it a "syndrome" and thats where the acknowledgement stops. It's never a "real" disease with an identifiable cause and a treatment.
Examples...
Participants preferring "fat" had highest body appreciation, weight/health critical consciousness; lowest #eatingdisorder symptoms, IWS, and weight controllability beliefs. Also more likely to identify as in-recovery if had #ED history

"Emory Police Department (EPD) officers were on site to provide support as needed"....Jesus Christ. It's beyond surreal to see these pictures on the campus that was "home" for years. https://t.co/E9NkDho63Y
@Stigmatologist@APA_Journals Would it be weird to retweet this every day for the next several years? 😅 Asking for a friend...SO glad you've done this research!

@jillian_rigert Thank you! It’s been fantastically weird when I’m so comfortable talking to people here on an academic level, but this is very much not an academic topic to me.
@PlantRoleModels Well, and all the associated euphemisms used. And there were many. Whatever language you use(and my clinicians used many of the terms thrown around) the impact stays…
Feb. 26 to March 3rd is Eating Disorders Awareness Week. Did you know about 54% of BPD patients also have a history of eating disorders? Understanding this connection can aid in treatment and recovery. To learn more: https://t.co/GQuw3bLOSy #EmotionsMatter#BPD#edaw
Surely, the role of a clinician should not be to "tease out" of a patient whether they really want to die, and whether their expressions of despair are 'authentic'? Death is not a game to be played with. Life is precious.
