New report by @ASOAntibiotics shows supermarkets are failing to comply with new laws making it *illegal* to prop up poor animal welfare with antibiotics. We need to change, for our own sakes and for the animals.

"Future generations will be outraged that in our failure to stand up to vested interests and lobby groups, we robbed them of the most important medical advance our species has ever known."

Very high levels of fluoroquinolone-resistant Campylobacter found in broilers, despite large reductions in use. Disappointing @vmdgovuk won't ban fluoroquinolone use in poultry, as US did in 2005. We know this contributes to resistance in human Campylobacter infections.
UK farm antibiotic sales are down by 59% since 2014 which is contributing to some falls in resistance. This is welcome progress. Much greater reductions can still be achieved. Most use is still for group treatments, rather than targeted individual treatments.
🚨 URGENT UPDATE: Doctors in #Gaza have issued an urgent warning that the lives of 130 premature babies are in imminent danger if fuel does not reach hospitals soon.

It’s possible to totally condemn actions of Hamas, as I do, & still believe humanitarian emergency in Gaza is appalling. UK Govt must call on Israel to show restraint, lift blockade, allow aid to reach civilians & guarantee safe passage out for medical care #ceasefire#Palestine
We are pleased that the @PSC_Alliance is going to consider our report in detail. We would be very happy to engage with them and with companies to help them improve policies. It is in all our interests.

@nationalrailenq can I travel to Wokingham from Honor Oak Park, via Norwood junction and East Croydon this morning? For some reason it says fares unavailable on National rail website - does this mean the trains aren’t running? Thanks!
