As a new academic year begins this week, it's helpful to remember that
there is often a certain amount of discomfort that comes along with
learning.
But that discomfort opens doors to new worlds and vistas of knowledge!
"Hardly any of the names of ancient artists are recorded, even though they did more for the happiness of their people than the pharoahs, generals, and world rulers whose pride filled the world with sorrow." - Emil Nolde, Painter
This inspired me today. For us classical musicians: a good reminder that there is no one "right" way, and that there are as many different ways to execute a score as there are performances. And we don't need to do it the "same" every time!

I love this quote from Mary Oliver - reminds me that at your instrument, as you play and the music sounds in the room, allow yourself to actually experience an emotion - without judgement - and respond with FEELING to what you hear.

Modern education is premised strongly on materialistic values. It is vital that when educating our children’s brains that we do not neglect to educate their hearts, a key element of which has to be the nurturing of our compassionate nature.
