1998: Ireland cut Capital Gains Tax from 40% to 20%. Revenue exploded €245m → €3.2bn.
From 2009–12, CGT was raised to 33%, reintroducing the lock-in effect.
The evidence is clear, the path for @SimonHarrisTD is obvious:
Cut CGT to 20%. Abolish deemed disposal on ETFs.

@RTE_PrimeTime@rtenews Drove from Cork to Dublin. Stopped at the only station with EV charging on the motorway. Only ONE charger working. Queue of an hour to charge & no option but to wait. Of the low number of chargers, a large percentage are not adequately maintained. Awful infrastructure.
It was a great pleasure to interview @DPCIreland Des Hogan and Dale Sunderland in Brussels at the @the_iapp#DPC24. It was an honest, open and insightful session with the commissioners. Lots to discuss - DPC strategic focus, resourcing & recent regulatory enforcement.
Commissioners for Data Protection, Des Hogan and Dale Sunderland, were delighted to participate this week at IAPP Europe Data Protection Congress 2024. #DPC24@the_iapp

@FeargalORourke@CllrAengusOrour I’m very sorry for your loss. Your mum was so kind to me when I was a 4th year student. We were getting photos taken and I will never forget how she was so kind and it made it easier for me to relax. A true lady. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilís.
An icon for me & my mum. I’m so lucky to have had the chance to express my gratitude to Nell when I bumped into her in Ranelagh a few years ago. She wasn’t having any of it & responded with her trademark sarcasm and wit- “you’re just surprised I’m still here”. Goodnight Sister.
Just deleting a period-tracking app is “bad advice because, simply, this is not the data that is being used in these prosecutions right now,” EFF’s @evacide told @USAToday. Worry more about Facebook messenger chats, Google searches, & location data.

@ciaranahern@DubCityCouncil I used to love @brownthomas BTs but this is ridiculous. A boycott of their stores is in order. They should not be allowed hold an entire capital city to ransom because they mistakenly believe a majority of their customers drive into their car park. Most of us don’t.
@archer_rs Don’t forget the disaster that is the rail system. I’ve just flown from Boston to Heathrow. After train delays and cancellations, it was quicker to fly across the Atlantic than to get from Heathrow to Cambridge. Nightmare.
@jmkirl To my friend, @jmkirl who is not just a top 100 person in tech, but a top person, friend, ally and partner in crime. I salute you Jeanne and raise a glass of champagne in a lovely oyster bar in Boston (which you would LOVE!) in your honour!
