One of the many decisions when I travel: Do I drive ~2 hours to the Jetport and take a connecting flight, or do I make the 3.5-hour haul to Boston to fly direct? I picked Boston for this trip. Somehow, my mud-covered mini-van always stands out in the Logan parking lot. -Kate
And with that....our SciEPlay work is out in the world!! We were amazed and inspired by the folks at NARST, who are ALSO thinking about science and engineering in early learning environments.
Also - is there even such a thing as a flattering presentation picture?
Alison and I got into this work because we were so inspired by the science we saw at our children’s preschools. Thank you to our Partners for your huge influence on this work.

Over the last five years, my team has been working with teachers- eight really closely and more than 30 who have tried out ideas – to explore new approaches to the elementary school science investigation.
Classroom investigations mostly demonstrate things we want children to “know," In the #InvestigationsProject, we purposefully engage students with uncertainty about evidence and uncertainty about what claim they can make from their investigation.
Had so much fun today at #NSTA23 with @ThatRileyMiller from @BowdoinCollege and Len Kenyon from @mmsa_org! Great turnout at our session about engaging students
in science and engineering practices through play ❤️ #SciEd#STEMplay
Excited to present at #NSTA23 tomorrow! Join me and @ThatRileyMiller for "Supporting Play-based Engagement with Science and Engineering Practices in Early Learning Environments" @mmsa_org@BowdoinCollege
It’s been 10 years since the release of the Next Generation Science Standards! Dr. Stephen Pruitt will share vital lessons learned as we reflect on the past decade with NGSS. Check out the science education summit agenda for more info: https://t.co/ypBZjw66Lt @DrSPruitt
Our science education summit is sold out! We are so excited to hear from our amazing panelists and guest speakers, including Dr. Tiffany Neill, Research Scientist at University of Washington. Check out the event agenda for more info: https://t.co/ypBZjw66Lt @tiffanyneill
