In my 10+ years of co-survivorship, doing life with @DGlaucomflecken through 2 separate cancers, 1 SCA and fighting off his death with 10 mins of #CPR, only ONE (1) of the medical professionals we interacted with has ever asked how I was doing. Meet Roger. https://t.co/NR4F2mkcZC

It is essential to pay attention to the many aspects of every dr or health professional. Despite a professional approach to work, which often masks distress or strain, every dr is human & has physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual & social needs.

This is one step towards *actual* workplace wellness. Not any number of online learning modules, wellness initiatives or emails reminding staff to 'be kind to each other'. HCWs need actual systemic actions to be properly supported.
“It was unbelievably emotional – getting the call they have a heart for you when you don’t know if you’ll get one at all,” said heart recipient Leigh Bell. Every second of every day you wait for the call to come.”

@GPswampwarrior@skyekinder A real need for systems change, Maybe those organising the morning tea should have organised cover so that the doctors could take a break. As @gdtoogood, the founder of crazy socks 4 docs, says we need to see tangible change come from #CrazySocks4Docs - less talk more action.
So I have my socks…@crazysocks4docs
But this year feels sad
Too many medical colleagues missing.
We must do more to address doc health & suicide
This job is important, but healthcare workers are too
Time for tangible action… what’s yours?
Burnout is not a mental illness.
Burnout is a chronic occupational psychological injury.
Burnout therefore is a workplace safety issue.
Unless we consider burnout an issue of workplace safety, we will never move from individual resilience focus to workplace solutions.
We did it!!! It is 5am and the @OSUWexMed hospital is still standing despite giving the residents 24 hours off!! What a team of faux-residents!! So happy to show our appreciation for all that our residents do for us!! #residentappreciationday
This is Natalia and her 11-year-old twins Yana and Yaroslav. When Russian cluster bomb struck Kramatorsk train station, Yaroslav was inside the building. Natalia and Yana were on the platform waiting for tea offered by volunteers. They are now in Lviv. Pic by Iryna Zaslavets.
