The real threats to social cohesion are poverty, inequality, social exclusion and inadequate provision of public services, not asylum seekers. To suggest that it’s the latter is to deflect attention from chronic governmental failure. It’s also deeply cynical and self-serving.
As our exhibition on Elizabeth Yeats in dlr Dundrum Library in assoc' with Guild of Embroiderers comes to a close, we are very excited that our collaboration with @tcdlibrary & @dfatirl will come to the @dlrLexIcon from July 31st and run for August.

39 years ago today, the EU’s flag was raised for the first time outside the European Commission 🇪🇺
The flag represents not just the EU as a union but represents all of us, as EU citizens, across 27 member states.
The EU flag also acts as a symbol of hope for the many European states working towards formal membership of our European family and I am determined to work with them in realising their ambitions.
I watched Councillor Gavin Pepper's latest anti-immigration screaming rant. 📢
If you're going to read this thread, might be an idea to turn volume down or maybe mute it altogether. 😂
I'll try counteract some of his hatred and lies, with a few facts and the odd opinion. /1

Well done to @GayProjectIRL and @ACT_LGBT for spreading the word on this.
Completely ridiculous and dangerous proposal to further increase emissions and reward someone who has turned their back on the Paris Agreement. It would be the EU speaking out of both sides of its mouth instead of standing on its #GreenDeal values and ambitions
6 years have passed since Paweł Adamowicz was assassinated.
True to a lifelong commitment to stand for the people he represented, the values of freedom, solidarity and equality, Mayor Adamowicz gave the ultimate testimony in the defense of a life at the service of others.

An Bord Pleanála has ruled that planning permission isn’t needed to improve and upgrade the Coastal Mobility Route.
The council is going to improve the CMR by filling in a new cycle lane in the missing segment along Crofton Road by improving the segregation with cars on the road. Work can finally go to tender and begin after a year-long delay - bringing us closer to a revitalised coastline. 🌊🌱
Here’s what to expect👇
Today marks the introduction of new speed limit byelaws across Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, with the implementation of a 30km/h speed limit in the majority of residential areas, as well as town and village centres. Further information on our website. #slowdown#RoadSafety
Warning: QR code scam on Pay & Display Machines
Fingal County Council is warning motorists to be vigilant of a QR scam that has taken place on Pay and Display machines. The Council is aware that a bogus QR sticker is being placed on some machines, bringing the user to a fraudulent website which requests credit card details and other personal data. This has been reported to An Garda Siochána.
Fingal County Council is advising motorists not to scan any QR codes or bar codes that may appear on Pay and Display machines. Instead, download the genuine parking app Payzone in use directly from your phones app store and use this, or pay directly by card or cash where available.
