This year, @ProPublica has been looking into the impacts of cities increasingly removing or “sweeping” encampments. We spoke with 135 people who had experienced sweeps. We also distributed notecards so people could write about it in their own words. 🧵
BREAKING: Lifesaving medication for postpartum hemorrhaging is being pulled off emergency carts because of new Louisiana law reclassifying misoprostol as a controlled dangerous substance. My first @pulitzercenter StoryReach article for @IlluminatorLA https://t.co/RkmZd3n6V0
This is good news and good policy. But it's missing an essential tool: public housing. Public housing has been underfunded for decades, leading. There's not enough of it and it's falling apart. Solving the housing crisis must include adequately funding public housing.
I grew up on a farm in rural Minnesota. Even into the 2000s, the GSA was often stigmatized and being called “gay” was an insult. I try not to get excited about politicians, but Walz seems like the real deal.
At a time when acceptance was hard to find for LGBTQ+ students, @Tim_Walz knew the signal it would send for a football coach to get involved in the Gay Straight Alliance.
So he signed on to be the group’s faculty advisor.
.@StrictScrutiny_ has been saying this for months. If TFG wins, Alito and Thomas are likely to step down... and will be replaced by much younger movement conservatives. And this 6-3 super-majority will endure for another generation.

This is disgraceful. California drives housing costs up, forcing people to live on the street. Now the governor gleefully demands cities destroy what homes unhoused folks have been able to create for themselves. Abject cruelty.
Biden: You made me the nominee, no one else, not the press, not the pundits, not the insiders, not the donors. You the voters decided, no one else, and I'm not going anywhere.
Part of the problem now is that expectations for Biden have been lowered. If he (mostly, kinda) strings coherent sentences together that's seen as a "win." But that's an inexcusably low bar for the most important job in the country!
The "but Joe is a good man" defense is so baffling. He's not! He's enabling a genocide! But even if he were, the presidency isn't a reward for being a good guy; his interpersonal niceness is not a reason for him to be the Dem nominee.
