The 2026-27 budget must respect taxpayers & protect PA’s future. Republicans have been clear that Shapiro's plan spends too much.
The Governor’s speech was the first step in this year's budget process. We certainly have a long way to go to reach a final agreement.
Groundhog Day is one of Pennsylvania’s best annual traditions. I hope you can join us early in the morning on Monday, February 2, either in person or watching from afar, to hear Punxsutawney Phil’s predication for when winter will end!
On the latest edition of @ReportVolpe, @SenLisaBaker and I joined Chuck Volpe to discuss the final 2025-26 state budget and what it means for the future of PA.
Thank you to Chuck for sitting down with us for a great conversation!

This budget is a product of divided government, and while it may have taken more time than any of us would have preferred, we have brought a divided government together to move our commonwealth forward.
On August 12, @PASenateGOP advanced a spending plan to fund state programs & services at the previous year’s levels while 2025-26 budget negotiations continue.
House Democrats could still join us & pass the bill today to help those feeling any negative impacts of the impasse.
The horror we saw yesterday with the murder of Charlie Kirk, the recent mass violence within communities, and the targeting of individuals who offer a different political perspective is abhorrent. The epidemic of violence in all forms must be condemned.
Following the conclusion of three voting session days this week, the Senate now remains on a 24-hour call. Session days beyond what are presently scheduled for the Fall will likely be necessary once a budget agreement is reached.

The full @PASenateGOP Majority passed a responsible budget & immediate way to fund transportation infrastructure & mass transit without taking any more from taxpayers. Democrats need to stop grandstanding at press conferences & start to seriously engage at the negotiating table.
The Senate will return to session on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. to continue our work on common sense solutions to issues of importance for all Pennsylvanians.
Our state is faced with a structural deficit just like SEPTA. Along with the discussion of any additional dollars for mass transit, this reality necessitates meaningful reforms and accountability measures must be implemented to ensure the long-term success of mass transit.
We have different visions for the future of the Commonwealth, but we're working together across the aisle to move this budget forward.
Regardless of divided government or political philosophy, some of these issues are just extraordinarily complex & need to be done correctly.
