Living this with my mom right now. We are only making it work because my father (RIP) was an exceptional planner & secured great long-term care insurance, my mom has a fantastic public pension, & they saved on top of that. Still, it is very hard.
The US has no coherent strategy for caring for seniors. That's why I was so glad to see @KamalaHarris's new plans that address the lack of a real long-term care market. @MedicaidGov is the only support for low-income people which means we see many seniors impoverishing themselves to qualify. The Harris plan is one for the general population, built on keeping seniors at home with the help they need. This frees up family members to continue to work, instead of quitting to care for their relatives.
Life-changing. I’m deep in the sandwich generation phase of life with both a parent & child with complex care needs. I am deep in cross-generational care, and I can say from experience this policy would be life-changing for individuals (esp. women) , families, & communities.
NEW
Harris rolling out a major policy proposal today: Having Medicare cover long-term care at home
Idea is to help millions of seniors & people w/disabilities -- and their family caregivers too

@whatMsKsaid Adults usually don’t get it… according to the internet. But I got it as an adult when my daughter had it. And it was the sickest I’ve been as an adult. So, so bad. I don’t understand why there’s no vaccine. (Also… seems like this is not a major exposure. Hopefully!)
So, so grateful for Rep. Frank Hornstein’s service to our state. He’s a friend, former colleague, visionary climate leader, hilarious human, and my legislator. Plus, he snags the best orange swag and saves it for me. 🧡Congrats on the big decision, Frank!

This is very exciting! And needed. I talk to soooooo many Americans who want to contribute to climate action. And this is an amazing way to channel that energy.
I’m looking to help my mom replace a furnace/AC at the end of its life. She has ducts. We live in cold MN. I’d love to make the move to air source heat pumps. Any advice as we jump in? I’ve already checked out the MN Air Source Hear Pump Collaborative.
Hey Folks who love clean energy, truth, justice and the American way, spread the news far and wide:
@MNCommerce

@MattPrivratsky Biked to the Fair today to work a shift for work (Eco Experience, woohoo!) I live quite far from the Fair & still a great experience. I passed a bunch of cars closer to the Fair. (My secret was parking at the U campus rather than Fair bike parking, which would have taken longer)
@russellstark23 I’ve been taking train or bus to Saint Paul and then biking to my office at MPCA. The work Saint Paul has been doing on biking infrastructure is noticeable and appreciated!
