Please join me tomorrow evening in raising a glass of wine in celebration of #lifedrawing in London! PV for DRAWING HUMANS exh on 23 Oct, 18:00-22:00 at XYZ Gallery (5 Grays Inn Road London WC1X 8PH), organised by Drawing Living Art. Three of my #drawings will be on display!
Great talk on Friday on #DuncanGrant’s #Erotic#Drawings@PaulMellonCentr by Samson Dittrich (@SussexUni & @CharlestonTrust) - such a sensitive handling private drawings and the way eroticism feeds from imagined others
Amazing box filling party last night at @ELPstudio! Final box has so many beautiful prints! Proud to have my drypoint Floating Woman no. 5 amongst them
Favourite works on paper @GuggenheimPGC, #Venice: #Bridget Riley's study for Loss (1964, gouache & pencil); #EduardoChillida's untitled (1970, collage & ink); #KurtSchwitters's Blau in Blau (1926–9, collage & lithographic crayon) & #HansRichter's Dadakopf (1918, India ink).
Thrilled to encounter @la_Biennale one of my favourite unorthodox, British, #drawing practitioners: #MadgeGill (1882–1961)
Crucifixion of the Soul, 1934, coloured inks on calico (London Borough of Newham Heritage Archives)
Such a complex, monumental and unsettling masterpiece!

Many thanks to all who participated in the @TheCourtauld Summer Intensive, ‘Unruly Britannia: The Brit Art Renaissance of 1945-1970’ - all round a pleasure to teach!
Great visit yesterday to Neil & the @RCA Archive for my @TheCourtauld 'Unruly Britannia' class!
Fascinating to explore #ARK & learn more about the Golden Generation of 1960s pop artists ... plus a photo op with the resident rogue waxworks: #Hockney & #HenryMoore
Bittersweet beauty: loving the room dedicated to Polish-born, WWII-survivor #FranciszkaThemerson@Tate Britain. The #drawings esp are raw, personal, often witty, and always powerful
Intimate & wonderful display of #HenryMoore's wartime #drawings in The Butler Gallery, @TheCourtauld: the emphasis on his interest in walls as motif and allegory is powerfully presented + a great opportunity to regard the sensitively his touch and materials in person.
Loved the #RogerMayne exh @TheCourtauld Gallery - such powerful of images of postwar Britain & beautifully displayed.
Esp appreciated captions discussing history of display (often blown up for grainy effect) + presentation of albums & book covers.
Highly recommend!
@_jamesfinch@artukdotorg Thank you! And agree: 12 Vertical is a strange proposition & early! Makes a bit of sense that Uglow would be poking holes in C’s measuring - U came under c’s influence so early (measuring marks appearing in late 1940), perhaps stranger still that U continued measuring after!
A short piece is now live, which I wrote on #EuanUglow for @artukdotorg in celebration of the Hazlitt Holland-Hibbert show (open until 19 July): https://t.co/IGIjXzmCip
Pilgrimage of the 20thc historian to #Guernica: Henry Moore & Eduardo #Chillida sculptures powerfully placed … and another great Chillida in #Gijón
Please join me on Friday 8 March: proud to be taking part in @TheCourtauld's Study Day on #FrankAuerbach in celebration of the Gallery's exh Frank Auerbach. The Charcoal Heads. https://t.co/WpP0SElnXN
