🧬 This Genetic Counsellor Awareness Day, we celebrate and acknowledge the dedication and compassion of genetic counsellors across Australasia. Thank you for your invaluable support! #ThankYouGCs#GCAwarenessDay#ANZGeneticCounsellors
Honoured to have been given the opportunity to speak at Parliament House about the importance of Genetic Counselling @GCAustralasia@HGSAAustralasia What a fabulous event, and the real credit should be give to our patient speakers.
The closing speech by @KateRileyGC eloquently captured the essence of what genetic counselling is about ‘we can’t change individuals DNA or their personal experience but what we do offer is a supportive, caring environment that support families through difficult times’
Today, Genetic Counsellors, politicians and patient advocates from around the country gathered at Parliament House in Canberra to recognise and champion the important work we do for patients and families impacted by genetic conditions.
The role of a genetic counsellor has expanded in the last few years from predominantly working in a clinical care setting, to research, education, academia, policy, industry and pathology. We celebrate the diverse areas genetic counsellors work across #GCAD2023
