@desautels_phd I’m all in on Connections over Compliance. Studying with my leadership team…such good conversations and paradigm shifts happening - do you have contacts for schools trying to implement whole building?!
Does your school have a Portrait of a Graduate or similar document? Please share a visual or link by replying to this tweet. Thank you in advance for sharing. #edchat
“I feel like I have a place here.”
—my 12-year-old sharing how feels at school in our parent conference today

It’s not the kids I’m worried about. It’s the teachers who hold them.
The more time I spend with teachers, the more I am convinced that I’ve never seen so many of them this tired, this unseen, or this concerned about our kids. Our teachers are hurting.
The purpose of pedagogy is to elevate student VOICE while cultivating critical consciousness and confidence. It should NOT be to slow drip endless facts, condition students to compliance, diminish their ways of being & learning, &/or engage in spirit murdering (@BLoveSoulPower).
Restorative practices only work when there is a community to restore. Relationships are the fabric of a community. What can we set ASIDE to prioritize building deep relationships and strong, vibrant communities right now?

@evergreendata @ShaneSafir@JamilaDugan I adore this book. It’s all the things I needed to read before starting my 1st elem admin job. We are working to implement and find ways to measure what matters but is hard to measure!!! I don’t know if we are doing it right but we are having different conversations for sure ❤️
